LYRICS

As you have probably figured out already, all of these songs are by The Residents, the dudes known for wearing giant eyeballs on their heads. If you're like most people, you might have heard of them, but have had little reason to have bought any of their albums. You might have known someone who enjoyed their music quite a bit, and their slobbering fanatacism turned you off to them before you ever gave the band a chance. It's also possible that you have already given the band a fair chance and decided that they really weren't your thing. If that's the case, I'm sorry I made this mix for you.

This mix isn't really intended to convert anyone. I've been listening to these jerks' albums for years now, and I can honestly say that they aren't for everyone and that they've got some albums that are utter garbage. But, they've got some good, and even some great, songs that you all deserve to hear.

If you like these songs: awesome!

If you like them enough to want to explore the Residents further: please ask me any questions you have. I'd be glad to offer recommendations. For starters, head here to find nearly all the known info on the Residents, except for their identites.

If you hate these songs: that's perfectly okay.

NOTE: I can't access the Noise Board from work any more, so I'll only be able to respond to this thread at night. You can send me an email at ddines at onebeacon dot com for a quicker reply.

Very cool idea. I loved the cover art, from the little I know about these guys it seems very appropriate. I have always been interested in hearing them but never had the balls to give them a try. I was pleasantly pleased with your mix. I'm not sure if I would listen to them just any time or run out and by an album or two but I will be listening to this mix again. I was sitting at the computer this morning and found this mix to be a perfect soundtrack to what I was up to. Great job and thanks for making the Residents accessible.

This mix is uniquely awesome because of its usefulness. Unlike any of the other mixes in these trades, I can actually file this one under "R" in my CD collection (where it will beef up my otherwise somewhat lopsided reprazentin' of Rezadents).

So for that, bravo.

Also, thanks for adding the year info above (and the lyrics)!

Yes, I would agree with JWS' assessment in that this mix is useful. I have heard of the Residents, here and there, but never had a chance to look them up. With this compilation I got a good helping of them and for the most part I liked it. I wouldn't classify it as my normal cup of tea, but I can appreciate what these guys have done over the years not only as musicians but as influences.

And the cover art is badass. Nice.
