I picked these songs because they're all things that at one time or another I've listened to repeatedly until I learned them by heart and sang them really loud. There's a bigger-than-just-a-pop-song feeling to each one of them for me, hence the title "Epic Pop."

lslapiko - I loved your mix. It's going to spend plenty of time in my CD player. I especially appreciated the fact that you included good songs by bands I would never buy anything from, like ABC and Depeche Mode. Inspired beginnning, The Jackson 5 don't get nearly the respect they deserve. And thanks for introducing me to The Halogens - I'll be checking them out more!

I'm only on track 4 so far - but damn, that Halogens song is awesome! i can't believe something that good is a local band - and i mean no disrespect, just that it sounds very professional.

what's the story with Jellyfish? are they local? recent?

Jellyfish was around in the early 90's. They were from Seattle, I think. They put out two albums: a self-titled first and a second called Spilt Milk.

Just got it today, gonna listen on my way to rehearsal!

I almost had to pull the car over 30 seconds into that Jackson 5 song. Absolute perfection.

Plenty of good stuff I was already familiar with on here (Jellfyish, Jason O'Halogen, Wobble, Depeche, Cave, U2), and thanks for including Belfast Child, which I don't think I've heard in about 12 to 15 years.

I kind of like the High Ceilings track on first few listens, and even though I'm already familiar with about half the tracks, hearing them in this context tends to bring out something fresh in them.

Still can't stand the bloody Police, however...

This was SO good! Nice mix of "Epic Pop" stuff (Jackson 5, U2) and stuff that should be epic and (luckily for us who can go see them in a club) isn't (The Halogens.. I CAN'T GET THAT SONG OUT OF MY HEAD!). I was sort of disappointed in the Elton John song... I like older Elton usually but this one didn't do anything for me, it may grow on me though you never know.
I'll definitely be listening to this CD again.

Really nice mix. Very pleasant and nice flow.

It was cool to hear J5 and ABC again. I like that Police song too. Ghost in the Machine is such a weird album. I never owned it but I really should pick it up.

I was actually a little surprised at how much 80s style pop was on this mix. I didn't know you were so into that style.

The Halogens song is great. I've heard that one before. The only criticism I have of that tune is the repetition of the phrase "rockets and wrecking balls" towards the end. I would rather hear an instrument play that line or something (not that I don't love Jason's voice because I do). But what the hell do I know?

The Nick Cave song is great too. I don't know much by him so it was a nice intro.

I liked the Mistle Thrush song too. And it's always great to hear Elton sing like that. Obviously that song is from the early 70s.

Nice mix Miss.

Epic Pop is a perfect name for this mix, a collection of shimmering pop songs. I like the feel of this with all the songs fitting in nicely. I really appreciate the cohesiveness of the songs. This and other mixes make me wish I had worked harder to achieve the same level of cohesiveness. There are some interesting choices here most of which I found to be the best songs. I mean you have older r & b like the Jackson 5 and folky acoustic stuff like the Patty Griffin song. I enjoyed hearing “Never Can Say Goodbye” again. I hadn’t heard it in some time and forgot just how cool it is. Some songs just kind of washed over me such as the Simple Minds, Gary Numan and the Police while others really grabbed me like Jah Wobble and Nick Cave. The song I’d never heard before but want to hear more of would be the Mistle Thrush song. I will have to look for more from them. I think my favorite song was the Patty Griffin song. I have stuff from similar artists but nothing by her. I will have to remedy that quickly. Nice mix.
