"Beefy Scott" on here, if you didn't know him personally.
I heard from a friend at work. such sad news. I had the pleasure of working with him for a bit, and he always greeted me with warmth and humor. great singer and guitar player.
rest in peace, man.
I don't have any details other than that he passed away in his sleep either last night or the night before.

This is horrible. I can't believe this. I just saw on FB after being tipped off by a friend that something happened. I've loved Ray ever since the first time I saw Beefy DC! He's such a cool guy, and so nice. I don't want this to be true.

Holy crap. Never met him in person but definitely interacted with him on the web. That's really sad. Last I saw on here he was thinking of walking away from music for a while to explore other things in life. Hopefully that time was a happy time for him.

I don't think he was much over 40. I remember sharing a bill with Beefy DC on New Year's at the Abbey. The guy put everything into his performances.

Oh, man. Ray was a beautiful person. Funny, wise, and a great musical talent. And most importantly, he was a NICE person and a treat to be around.
While in LA last spring, we had plans to get together with him and Sandy, but due to scheduling conflicts, it didn't happen. I am really sad about that right now.
My heart goes out to Sandy and to all of his family and friends. RIP.

had been talking to ray a lot lately, he was psyched to be coming out here w/sandy soon.
he was a sweet guy w/a lot of heart, but tortured by much (not a knock of course).
he'd just sent me the first chapter of a book he'd hoped to write about that kind of stuff, and it's fairly fuckin' brilliant.
if you're friends w/sandy, i'm sure she would appreciate any support right now.

Goddamn. just heard. We were IM'ing just last week and I JUST put his and Sandy's Xmas card in the mail this morning.
Ray cracked me up, he said he would fly east and play my wedding reception for free, he wa sreally insistent on it but I said not everyone would appreciate AC/DC tunes as much as me so I passed.
The Beefy DC gigs were some of my favorite New Years EVER. And of course he always got up and sang with the Stinkin' Lincolns.
Info I got is the same, Sandy woke up this morning and Ray had died in his sleep. Todd Spahr and other friends are over there now helping her out.
RIP Ray...so sad you left us.

Basically a very good guy. This is a nightmare.

I spoke with Ray last night! To get the message that he had passed away this morning was to much to bear. I don't know how he died. Only that he went in his sleep. His wife Sandy must be dealing with intense sadness and my heart goes out to her. Just last night he and I were talking about hanging out this weekend and having some hard laughs. He and Sandy were due to fly here on thursday from L.A. for Christmas holiday. Incredibly this conversation would be my last with Ray. Speaking as someone who played music with Ray and considered him a good friend, it is painful to have to say goodbye to him so unexpectedly. To all his friends and family and especially to Sandy I want to express sincere condolences for this great loss. Rock on Ray. You will be sorely missed.
