Just got this forwarded to me from Randi. We all knew she had been sick and I knew it was just a matter of time but awfully sad news none the less...
hi everyone,
it's with a very heavy heart i tell you that our beloved jeanne passed away this morning. i left messages for some of you to call me so i didn't leave the news in a message but word is now getting out and i wanted to be sure you know. by all accounts, she seemed peaceful last night after a very agitated day. it's my hope that she just drifted off to sleep with thoughts of the cape, warmth and sun (that we all know she loved so much).
i will send the wake and funeral information when i get it. please let anyone know you think should know..i'm sure bonney and i will inadvertently forget somebody.

Jeanne was a true friend who had the occasion to prove it.
What a one-of-a-kind, warm, giving, positive woman she was.
And she made the best White Russians ever.
God Bless You, Jeanne.

The "beloved" part of the thread says it all. Jeannie was a total ray of sunshine and truly was liked by virtually everybody. I remember that soon after she began her struggle, she would show up at TT's whenever possible, just because she loved hearing the music and seeing her friends.

Through all the years of hanging out at TT's and playing shows Jeanne was always a constant. A total sweetheart but also a no nonsense gal who took crap from nobody. She will be sorely missed and always remembered... I've known things were bad for a while but always in the back of my mind I expect to see her there whenever I walk through that door and I suppose I always will.

I can't think of many people in the Boston music community as universally well loved and respected as Jeanne was. She gave so many of us a chance when she booked the club and I can't count how many drinks I've been handed over the last 20 years that were accompanied by a patented Jeanne smile and a laugh.
I feel sad. I am really going to miss her.

man, this makes me sad. I was able to hang with Jeanne a few times away from T.T.'s, and many times in it. It was always fun to catch up with her right after soundcheck, before the crowds showed up. I agree with the sentiments of others here that it would be impossible to walk into that club and not think of her.
RIP

She made going to the bar to grab drinks during a packed TT's show a pleasure (well, okay. less of a PITA than other places). One of the nicest, people I've met at any of the clubs in the area, and she was the first person to pour me a real shot in Boston back in the mid 90's. I can't imagine the club without her, but as has been said before, she will always be there.

I saw Jeannie walking down Brookline Street a few weeks ago. I was in my car and could not stop, but I remember thinking that she looked good, so maybe she was beating the ever so evil cancer. I had seen Spencer Gates at my 20th anniversary party, and thought the same and she also ended up leaving this world far too soon. Jesus, life is so fragile. You can look great and be gone so soon.
That being said, TT's is NEVER going to be the same for me, and others who have said it here. TT's was Jeannie. Always smiling and coming over even if she was in the middle of mixing up a big order, just to greet and acknowledge your presence. The image of this tears me up knowing she is gone forever. I fucking HATE cancer.
R.I.P. to an old reliable friend who made life so enjoyable on those seemingly endless cold and tired nights when I should have been home sleeping. But, Jeannie was always there working her ass off and always smiling.

Thanks for posting that, Corin. It was beautifully written and heartfelt.
I wish I had known there was a website for Jeanne. I wish I had made it to her wake tonight. I couldn't get a ride and got hopelessly lost trying to make there alone in a dark car with bad yahoo.com directions. It's hard to find closure when you can't say goodbye to an old friend who's been a part of my world for so many years.
Rest in peace, Jeanne.

A nice piece by Johnathan Perry:
'The den mother of the Boston rock scene'
Jeanne Connolly helped launch the careers of many Boston bands in the '80s and '90s.

She was a good friend who I will sorely miss, many a late-night drink, and I'm talking super-duper late, was served by her in and out of the club. I hope there's a cocktail waiting for you in the rock club in the sky.
