For real and for serious, people, this is the sign up thread. Please post in this thread if you plan on participating.
---------------------------------------
For anyone who hasn't done this in the past, here's how it works:
If we get more than 20 people, there will be two groups - one that I oversee and one that hobot oversees (assuming hobot is willing to do that). The groups will be divided by me using my own special method.
Once the group/s are decided, everyone needs to start working on their playlist. I generally give people two weeks to come up with something. It can be 30 minutes or it can fill a full CD. Whatever you want. And you can put whatever you want on it. If it has lots of They Might Be Giants, that's fine, but you will most definitely get harassed to hell and back.
If you don't make the playlist deadline, I give you the boot. Plain and simple. You're out of the trade.
Once I'm positive that everyone is still in, I will send out a notice that you need to make X number of copies of your mix.
A tracklist is required to accompany each disc. The tracklist should contain your username somewhere on it. Many people include album art on the tracklist, but it's not required. Some include liner notes, but they're not required.
All discs should be labeled with your username on it, and each disc should be contained in a slim jewel case. Please do not use regular sized jewel cases. They jack up the price of postage and are a pain.
You have two weeks to make the copies of your mix and send them to me through the mail, along with the postage it will cost to send them back to you. I will let you know how much postage is (usually around $6). If you dick around on this and hold everyone up, I will simply tell you to forget it and wait till the next trade.
Once I have everyones mixes, I will collate them and mail them back to you. So what you receive, in the end, is a different mix from each member of the group.
Please don't sign up if:
Your CD burner is on the fritz/broken
You plan on using someone else's burner
You can't afford to participate (you will need money for the discs/cases/postage - probably $25)
You procrastinate and like to be a dick when everyone else is nice and prompt

If the above happens to those in charge: I'd like to be in.

For signing up? Not sure. I am willing to have 20 (including me) in on the trade, but if hobot participates and is willing to take on extras, then we can have more than 20. However, there's been no word from hobot, so it looks like the list will close at 20.

Yep, this is true. Usually one big box of cds that you get to immerse yourself in upon arrival. It's a good time.
What count are we up to? Can I get up in this shit?

Okay, so that's 21 people including me. If anyone else wants in, you'll need to PM hobot and ask him if he wants to help out. Otherwise someone else will have to step up to the plate to help.

I don't think I have time to do another one of these right now. Hopefully someone else will step up to the plate and take my place if there's interest.

I'll contribute Cdr's, but I really only want the MP3 collection on DVD. Maybe we could all try doing that this time, to cut down on mailing and what not.

I like the artwork! I also like having a physical disc around in case the whole thing is fantastic. However, the cheaper option is the dvd, so I suppose it could be up to the individual about how much they want to spend for particular mediums. And of course, if T-Bone isn't up for lugging that crap around then maybe he'll make the choice, period.

I know this comes up often, this issue. My one vote is for cds, mainly because my car player doesn't play mp3s and I listen to a lot of these driving. Unless they can be converted to a format that would play,-- I'm stupid with that stuff.
Plus, yeah, the artwork and written track info are good things.
