Come on, my mix is so good. sad.gif

I like this, and I really like the way the tracklist goes. The mellow tunes (actually, all the tunes) are new to me and I have a short attention span. The occassional louder tune is like a slap upside the head to keep me focussed.

And your painting is real good.

I'm part way though your mix. Favs so far are:

Damien Rice / The Blower’s Daughter
Julie Doiron / Ce Charmant Coeur

Both are amazing artists. "The Blower's Daughter" is so sad and beautiful it's almost haunting, and Julie Doiron is just wonderful. She writes songs in French and English. She did a split with Okkervil River a while back, which is why I'm surprised more people here haven't heard of her.

Ok, I listened to this mix as I saw that you, emsterly, had listened to mine so I wanted to return the favor, as it were. I've only listened to it once so far so I may come back and comment more later.
I liked it! With this mix I got the feeling that each of the songs really meant something to the maker of the mix and that's cool to hear. I liked its unpredictability. I liked how a lot of different styles were present but none of it seemed forced. It was a mix I could just relax and settle into. One thing I like about these mixes in general is getting to hear a bunch of bands that I have heard the name of but not the music. This was one of those, with the following: Nickel Creek, Pedro the Lion, Iron and Wine, Snow Patrol, Damien Rice, Rilo Kiley, Belle and Sebastian, Bouncing Souls, and the Bronx.

As I said I've only heard it once but so far my top favorites are: Mates of State, Iron and Wine, Damien Rice, Rilo Kiley, Open hand, Patty Griffin and Lisa Germano. These were all really good. The Iron and Wine song was just so relaxed, it was so easy to listen to. The Lisa Germano surprised me as I have one of her cds and it's just really sparse, I didn't care for it much but your song here is much fuller musically and more melodic. The Patty Griffin song was a beauty. Open Hand rocked good! I did like Nickel Creek too and Tom Petty and the others have potential --I need more listens. Thanks emsterly!

Oh I'm so glad you like it! I think Open Hand is such a fun band, but people tend to not give them a chance since they're signed to Trustkill. The Lisa Germano song was a last minute addition, but I think it goes well with the rest of the cd. And I just love that Patty Griffin song too.

never heard of Trustkill. I feel old and out of touch. Who else is on that label? I assume when I see that I'll know why I'm supposed to disdain said outfit. But I probably still won't.

Trustkill is probably the biggest hardcore label ever, but lately they've expanded their roster to include emo, pop punk, and nu-metal, which is probably a big part of people's disdain for it.

This is their current roster:

BedLight for Blue Eyes
Bleeding Through
Bullet for My Valentine
Crash Romeo
XCOANEX
Eighteen Visions
Fight Paris
First Blood
Hopesfall
It Dies Today
Most Precious Blood
Nora
Open Hand
Roses are Red
Terror
This Is Hell
Walls of Jericho

Past bands include Poison the Well, Racetraitor, Harvest, Endeavor, and Shai Hulud, to name a few.

thanks emsterly. I think I've only heard of one of those bands, so struggle as I might to hate the label, I'm coming up empty, though I'm sure you're right about the nu-metallic basis of the hatred towards 'em.

This is a lovely mix with some bands I'm unfamiliar with.....whose music I'll be checking out! Always good to be introduced to new stuff. Love the fact that you had tracks by Nickel Creek and Dar Williams, who I really like.

Nice cover art too biggrin.gif

also show us more of your paintings.

seriously your mix was entertaining on first listen, flowed well and was kind of like a radio show.

I especially liked Pedro the Lion.
