The best space was where Dickie knelt and photographed on side stage, through much of the show.

This guy was right in front of me. Question for Dickie... How many fucking pictures do you need did take? hundreds? The whole set? It's a rock show not a photo shoot... Very lame. I paid to see the show not the back of your fucking jacket. It got very ridiculous when you decided to lie across the monitors to get shots of david on the other side of the stage. I don't mind getting out of the way for some pictures but what you did was VERY inconsiderate. Amateur hour.

Dickie was kneeling, and certainly not blocking anyones view. He was on side stage crouching, fer chrissakes. Jeepers, I don't think I've ever attended a show where I don't see the backs of peoples jackets. Is this possible? rolleyes.gif At 5/4, I'm lucky if I can see over peoples heads.

Everyone should stand in front of stage according height.......taller ones in the back tongue.gif

He easily took a couple hundred pictures and stood in front of me the whole set.

"certainly not blocking anyones view"
come on carm, he jumped up there right when the set started and stayed there the entire set and yes he was blocking my view-- he was kneeling on the stage directly in front of me so I was looking at the back of his jacket.

Take some pictures... fine but then get out of the way so people can enjoy the show.

I like drama.

I also have the ocassional Napoleon complex where I drink and get into fights (and usually get my ass kicked).

Sounds like I would've had prime opportunity last night.

Very sorry I missed it.

Thanks to everyone for sharing the photos.

Mike, I look forward to seeing yours.

Eh, I still envy your position in front of the stage. I would have loved to have staked out a place there. Unfortunately, my dear friend Liz, who was going to attend the show with me, had to cancel due to a death in her family. My boyfriend then came with me in her place, but didn't get back from another day show he had to be at, until late. We got there just a few minutes before the Hoods hit the stage. No time for food. No seeing the opening bands. No solid place to stand through the whole set. You may be annoyed, but still, you had a better spot than many. And, at least the show from your place by the stage will be permanently documented on film. tongue.gif

Also, when did Lee start working at Jiffy Lube? What the hell was he wearing?

Sounds like I missed a great show last night. I will be at the next show.

THIS was the Hoods show I have been waiting for since 1992. Actually longer, since they probably haven't played that many songs from the High Hard One since - who knows? Great set list. Great performance. I was also getting frustrated by some of the people shoving. What I couldn't figure out is why some people can't stand stay in one place during a show (I don't mean in between sets, but during the performances)! I staked out my spot during Brilliant, and stayed there the rest of the night.

Brilliant was good, while Thinner was great. I picked up 2 of their CD's on the way out, and they are very solid.

Ralph's is a unique place, but I love the sound there - very loud.

Thanks to the Hoods for a great show.

I don't understand why people wait so long to see a band and than talk all through their set.

I really liked Ralph's as a venue. I wish there was a place like this closer to home.

There are two places that kind of have the Ralph's vibe but they're both too small for a band
like the Hoods-the Abbey Lounge in Somerville(no food, but great staff and sound-nice and
loud) and Charlie's Kitchen in Harvard Square(great burgers, great jukebox, but usually no
live music)

I am always at the Abbey.

Both of those clubs are great. The Abbey is less like Ralph's though than Charlie's Kitchen. And CK is cool. Both clubs have a lack for parking though. At Ralph's, I pulled right in. The whole time I was driving there I was worried about parking.

I was having a tough time getting in to a spot where I could get some good shots of the band. One guy in front of the stage actually looked at me and nodded his head "no, I am not making room for you." Yikes! I got some back of the stage shots, but the guitars were over there and it was hard to manuever around them without the threat of getting too close to them and potentially disturbing them. The best space was where Dickie knelt and photographed on side stage, through much of the show. However, there was a woman standing just behind him who was adamant about not wanting me there. I told her I just needed a couple of shots and would then get out of her way. Although there was a monitor right there and it was blasting in my right ear, I heard her loud and clear threaten to hit me if didn't move. That was when David caught on with what was happening and took control of what could have been a creepy disaster. Ha ha, that was when he highlighted my presence there. [blush]

I just thought Ralph's was a great place. Almost like a Rat or a CBGB experience. A cool dive. A real rock club. There were some A-holes there, but you can get that anywhere. The guy up front though was out of control. He put his hand around someone's throat before Dave stepped in. Then it almost errupted again. I was kind of wondering where the bouncers were. It really almost became a big fight.

There was a guy there from California that recognized my wife from whne she worked at the Rat and gave her a DVD of the Hoods. It has some great old TV footage. It has probably 8 songs or so from a TV show called Boston Live in 1981. Such songs as the Patriot, Arrogance, NPLH, Can't Explain, Flavors, One day Older, Mr Reeves, Prettiest Girl, I gotta go and some other early songs. All in the Boston Live Studio. Then it has two songs from a Rock Against Racism concert that the Hoods played at. It was shown on Boston Live. Dave with silver eye makeup for that one. Must have been a Bowie phase. They play She's so Good and Monday Morning.
The next part of the DVD has a TV show called Sound Traxx from 1985 and shows Real Stories and Arrogance at the Channel. Then it goes into a show called Local Licks from 1987. Carmillita helps introduce them and they play Dangerous and Pure and Easy. My wife and I watched it when we got back from the Ralph's show. After just seeing the HOODS play it really put everything in perspective. It was great. If the guy who gave the dvd to my wife reads this board she says THANKS!! and so do I.

Yeah, what about this DVD?? How can I get one? I vividly recall watching them on Local Live

Not only did the Hoods do crowd control, but, it seems, they incited a little romance into the crowd, as well. In the back, there stood a couple in front of us, incessantly making out during their set.
John D
Wow. That was almost too much fun to take in one night. The 'Hoods proved again that they are the undisputed champs of Boston pop. They played like they were on a mission, and let's hope that mission continues. This was a true event, the likes of which tired old Worcester really needs. Thank you David, Lee and Johnny for showing us all how it's done. We cannot wait until you return.

It was great to meet K2 and a bunch of the folks that came in from all over (Hi Mike from VA!). We really were honored to be on the bill and hope we got everything off on the right foot (in spite of my mysterious disappearing sound on a couple of numbers - damn wobbly speaker jack - of course the last thing I checked). Thank you to everyone that said hi, and to Bear for the great sound in the room and onstage.

My pals Thinner are still my favorite Worcester band and our best-kept secret, and I'm so happy that they got to show their stuff in front of a great crowd. They are great songwriters and musicians, and can rock and drink with the best. They really need to hit the Abbey some weekend.

truly an amazing night. the staff at ralphs was the best and the hoods were on fire from the get go. i stood on the side watching the band and crowd and it was just so amazing it was sending chills down my spine. it was a great set and it seemed to me at the halfway point (nancy) it went from great, to down right jaw dropping amazing! could have done without the one guy who got up and practically knocked over lee to sing queen bitch (not J-PO). look out texas@!!!! the hoods are on their way.

I know that guy who got up to sing, and he is an extremely quiet person, but a gigantic 'Hoods fan. He had to be really fired up to do that. Lee's face was priceless when that happened. He was just leaning back against his amp with this bemused look on his face looking over at Dave and J. Po. I wish someone had a pic of it.

Hey everyone!

Well we got back home last night at around 1030 PM. Talk about a loooong bus ride, lol. But so worth it. I can't even begin to describe how awesome a night that was!! I had so much fun and Worcester was great! Talk about nice people. Everyone from the cab drivers, to waitresses to hotel staff to record shop clerks were just so friendly. And the drive through was awesome, seeing those Appalachians (sp?). Just gorgeous. I got to see a deer and some hawks...I'm a real Nature freak, so that was an unexpected treat. And it was a real pleasure to meet so many of you!! wub.gif Thank you Dickie for bringing us backstage!! I will never forget that for as long as I live. And hello to all the rest of you--Matt, Wally, Larry & Cara, Mike from VA and your friend from Los Angeles (sorry I forgot your name! blushing.gif ), LB Worm (forgot yours too, lol), the dude from Thinner (can't remember your name too, sorry! But your band was great!!), Barry, Vincent, ALL OF YOU and anyone else I forgot!!! Thanks for saying hello! You were all so cool and friendly! I felt like we were a big happy Hoods family, lol! The only thing I wished was that there were more booties shakin' on the dance floor, but oh well...

As for the Hoods, well all I can say is wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif clapping.gif clapping.gif punk.gif punk.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif And extra special wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif for Dave wub.gif

Thank you for dedicating Prettiest Girl to me!!! wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

Anyway, we have lots of pictures, but they are really huge right now, so I have to resize them. When they are ready I'll post them.

BTW, what's with all this complaining?? Be happy the Hoods played! Who cares if people were in the way or whatever? That's what happens at rock shows. And I don't know what is up with those aggro people... wacko.gif And so what if Dickie took a hundred pictures?? GOOD! I'm glad he did!! thumbup.gif If people are gonna be so negative, they should just stay home and watch TV! Sorry don't mean to be rude, but this complaining about nothing is just dumb! I did see that fight that almost broke out with Carmelita, and I just thought that was so lame!! Like let her take her pictures already! Geeeez.

Anway, I know this won't be my last Hoods show. I can't make it down to Texas, but I will be at the next one for sure!!

All you people who said you'd send me stuff, please PM me or email me: emma-o@emma-o.net

Sorry bout the near collision with Lee, although he did retaliate by giving me a shove at
