For real and for serious, people, this is the sign up thread. Please post in this thread if you plan on participating.
---------------------------------------
For anyone who hasn't done this in the past, here's how it works:
If we get more than 20 people, there will be two groups - one that I oversee and one that hobot oversees. Not sure how we'll divide up the groups yet, but we'll cross that bridge in due time.
Once the group/s are decided, everyone needs to start working on their playlist. I generally give people two weeks to come up with something. It can be 30 minutes or it can fill a full CD. Whatever you want. And you can put whatever you want on it. If it has lots of They Might Be Giants, that's fine, but you will most definitely get harassed to hell and back.
If you don't make the playlist deadline, I give you the boot. Plain and simple. You're out of the trade.
Once I'm positive that everyone is still in, I will send out a notice that you need to make X number of copies of your mix.
A tracklist is required to accompany each disc. The tracklist should contain your username somewhere on it. Many people include album art on the tracklist, but it's not required. Some include liner notes, but they're not required.
All discs should be labeled with your username on it, and each disc should be contained in a slim jewel case. Please do not use regular sized jewel cases. They jack up the price of postage and are a pain.
You have two weeks to make the copies of your mix and send them to me through the mail, along with the postage it will cost to send them back to you. I will let you know how much postage is (usually around $6). If you dick around on this and hold everyone up, I will simply tell you to forget and wait till the next trade.
Once I have everyones mixes, I will collate them and mail them back to you. So what you receive, in the end, is a different mix from each member of the group.
Please don't sign up if:
Your CD burner is on the fritz/broken
You plan on using someone else's burner
You can't afford to participate (you will need money for the discs/cases/postage - probably $25)
You procrastinate and like to be a dick when everyone else is nice and prompt

I'm in for what will be my fourth try.......maybe a random mix, MAYBE a carefullyt selected DJ mix.
I also vote for the "compleat" MP3 option as well.

Any chance we could pick groups somehow? Last time there were some great mixes in group 2 that I would have loved to have gotten. Maybe we could all post a brief description of what kind of mix we intend on making?
And, as always, mine will have absolutely zero artwork - the focus is and should be the music.

a good sense of design can make the harmonies JUMP
PS - the MP3 collection is probably the answer to your question.

I'd like to do this - but 20 CD is too much for me to make -- and honestly, too much to receive and digest properly.
Anyone who feels similarly, PM me -- perhaps we can do a private trade.

So is there a correlation in participating in the mix and leaving the board? I might have to rethink my position on this whole mix thing.

I'd like to be in again. Hopefully my extremely low posts per day average won't be the deciding factor in axing me from it if it comes to a tiebreaker type situation.

Don't feel bad. I've done this twice already and I have like 60 CDs I haven't even listened to yet. I am sure I am missing a lot. I wish they could make a giant MP3CD or something. Regardless, K2's Noise Board Mixtape #3 has been done for like a week now. I call it the 'jukebox' CD because you get twice the rock for your dollar or something like that. You'll see.. OH! and my 'theme' this time is again local bands, the best of 2005.

About the avatar - honestly I need to go find that PM where you told me how to post a picture as I've forgotten how. That's a big reason I haven't changed it, plus my hardcore homage-stance toward Mr. Bolin.
Glad you've liked some of the tunes Frank, thanks.

too late, they just did a van tour of western upstate New York. Footride upstaged your bands in Utica, but after that things kind of fell apart for them.
