I really liked this one - great picks with "Some Velvet Morning", Prince, and Sandy Shaw. Though if I didn't hear that opening track ever again I'd be fine with it. Great mix - very unexpected. Based on your reviews, I either expected this or a compilation of the worst of the worst "pissed off band writing T Max a mean letter" bands.

That could be a riot of a mix to hear from coughlin --- that "worst of the worst that I've reviewed". Maybe a bonus disc with a future trade, not to tell you Joe what to do or anything. |

Agreed, it would be kinda cruel. I gave a knee-jerk response; I was thinking right after I posted "why would he keep that stuff around anyway?" Like your use of the word "torture". |

Mixmaster Schmoey! Your CD is delightful. The Nutty Squirrels! Gotta love it. Lots of things I haven't heard in a while on here, as well as new things I hadn't heard before. The sequencing is excellent, as well. Bravo!

picked this one back up again and though I'm only on song 2 now, I gotta say that song one "Honey Rock", well, it struck me as a pure expression of love from a woman to a man, awesome. I'd love to have a woman sing to me like that is what I'm saying.
And song 2 by the japanese women, well, I swear to God, those keyboards are probably the warmest, easiest-on-the-ears sound I've heard maybe ever, with those little underwater-sounding filigrees or whatever you call them, those trills, like a fish swimming. And I also swear that that song has, to me, a distinct South African feel to it, and I've heard a fair amount of the latter. Also I got Hawaiian and Latino vibes from it, that was cool. Did you get those "references" from it at all Joe? |

Keyboards on the Air song-- similarly exquisitely warm & wonderful like the Puffy gals. Love that kind of stuff. Thanks for it!
Sandy Shaw -- love her voice. |

I'm getting all the trades on MP3 from T-Bone, especially because I don't want to miss a mix by Joey Ray, but also to play along the home version to hear what y'all are gabbing about AND to load up the MP3 playa!!!!!

Joe -- have you ever heard kd lang's version of 'theme from valley of the dolls"? It's on her Drag cd. I just heard Dionne's which I liked but I think I like k.d.'s even more.
Your cd is so romantic it's almost overwhelming this bachelor. Great. I hope to be able to share it with that special someone someday. |

L-Slay --- especially glad you liked this --- y'know, since i'm Mothra and am kicking your ass and all --- i believe the nutty squirrels pre-dated the chipmunks by a good year or more --- the tune actually swings in spite of itself --- anyone remember that mark parenteau would always play this on 'BCN when a record skipped? that's how i first heard it, but finding out any more was a nightmare for years --- now i can rest easy --- oh, and it's actually "uh oh! part 1," ain't heard part two or anything else, but there's at least one full LP out... you can find pics of the cover w/a search...
i'm still not 100% satisfied with the order of the songs, but this was after much agonizing and i wanted to get mine in early after having to crap out last time... M. Henry, i'd not have guessed anyone hearing the title track as romantically as you did --- especially since the only lyrics are "oh," "go," and "honey," but i'm certainly glad it works for you... never heard kd's dolls version, but am searching as we speak... can't say i got more from the puffy gals beyond some kinda lounge cheese, but hey... i also try to always include an artist that i learned about from the NB, which in this case was sandy shaw --- where the fuck has SHE been all my life? sheeeit! |

to respond.. Joe, for me with the "Honey" song, it's just the way she sings it. She convinced me she was in love.
Lemme know if you find the kd version, I'd be curious to hear what you think. If you don't find it it could very well end up on my next mix. I even considered putting it on this one. |

this would make an excellent poll question, regardless of the fact that very few people outside of this thread would have any idea what the fuck we're talking about...
anyway, the music in that song is more on the bump-n-grind side (to me) than the breathy / whatever side, but i do know what you mean... she's certainly enthusiastic, in any case... conversely, i think we've officially crossed the thinking-too-much-about-it line... it is fun, though, and comforting to know that others are as retardedly obsessive as me... |

Quick explanation and I'm out: I wasn't going to respond but then I thought "that would be rude, wouldn't it"? I think I picture myself, in these internet discussions, as if I am actually physically next to the person and am talking to him/her and it always strikes me as rude not to respond when spoken to. I'll try to be ruder in the future..hhahahee. |
