School of Rock Boston’s Metallica Show – Because “‘Nothing Else Matters” on June 2nd & 3rd

CAMBRIDGE, MA – It’s Bring Your Own Earplugs Weekend as a “Battery” of aural assault hits The Middle East Upstairs on the first weekend of June. With youth and angst on their side, young Massachusetts metalheads from the nation’s premiere performance-based program, School of Rock, will storm the stage, armed with guitars and ample amplification to pay homage to one of the great gods of American Metal, METALLICA!

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Metallica’s fast tempos, instrumentals, and aggressive musicianship placed them as one of the founding "big four" of thrash metal alongside Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. They formed in 1981 when James Hetfield responded to an advertisement that drummer Lars Ulrich had posted in a local newspaper. As of 2003, the line-up features long-time lead guitarist Kirk Hammett (who joined the band in 1983) and bassist Robert Trujillo (a member since 2003) alongside Hetfield and Ulrich. Previous members of the band are lead guitarist Dave Mustaine (who went on to found the band Megadeth), and bassists Ron McGovney, Cliff Burton and Jason Newsted.

Day 1 ( Saturday, June 2nd) features a 1:00 PM matinee that is 100% all-ages and open to the public.
Day 2 (Sunday, June 3rd) starts at 1:00 and is the perfect event to take grandma to after Sunday brunch
