now if someone could just explain jimmy buffet... Or his heir, Kenny Chesney,, who played to a sold-out Gillette Stadium yesterday. former: suburban milquetoast morons with no musical taste going "wild" for a night listening to Mr. Buffet's light-rock feel-good aural feces latter: Republican, NASCAR-loving, flag-waving mouth-breathers with no musical taste downing $8 cups of coors light and screaming "YEAAHHHH! USA! USA!" |

I think you'd be surprised at the number of bands/artists that are over 30 or close to it. and theyre very good i just liked to go before it became a fun for the whole family event, zappa aside i traded in my early 70's concerts for my bar band enthusiasm where i could drink and schmooze |

Eye can't figure the parking @ mansfield went twice this year: once it took 2 hours to get out, the other we flew out??? what's up with this??? People make the mistake of thinking taht getting there early means they will get preference on the way out. It's not like that. They way they manage the lots at Great Woods, last ones in are usually first ones out. the secret is to get there well after the crappy opening act is already on stage. |

Oh ok, I see what you mean. My 1st and last stadium concert was the Who in '89. I was at the Friday night Who concert in '89 at Foxboro. I got in with Wednesday night tickets. I was glad they didn't check them closely. That show was loud. This post has been edited by MrCheese: Aug 17 2009, 08:36 AM |

I've seen Springsteen a shitload of times, and have to admit I wasn't all that broken up that I can't go to any of these shows. I liked Magic well enough, but this last one I really don't like more than a couple of songs on it.
I think his biggest issue is overexposure. He tends to go on these marathon tours that end up swinging through a couple of times, and just having been here a while ago it doesn't surprise me that people are kind of burnt out. It would not surprise me if he did a "play the album" tour at some point. He did some shows a while back where he played all of Darkness and BTR at some small theater in NJ for charity. |

i thought you were talking about the boss until i saw "Mr. Buffet" eh, i hear you... at least Bruce's fans aren't as overtly obnoxious as parrotheads (though screaming BRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE!! at the top of your lungs is pretty damn annoying...) If he did darkness on the edge of town/the river albums as the whole show, I'd go.

I really wouldn't be suprised if he did such a thing. That seems to be the latest trend in the concert industry to enable veteran acts to keep filling venues. He's doing "Born To Run" out in Chicago. Actually going to see him Saturday night....only other time was the "Born To Run" tour at the Music Hall. |

Really good show - played just under 3 hours, no intermission, never had the feeling he was coasting or phoning it in. Went on @ 8:05 and played to the 11pm curfew.
Only downer was seeing Clarence Clemons, who is having trouble walking and pretty much stays at far stage right - spends half the show sitting down. Show looked sold out from what I could see. Pay lot was $40....got back to my car @ 11:15, rehydrated, and got out of there by 11:45. I did luck out and parked in the front row. |

That too. I think the coming around again too soon is also what dragged down attendance of AC DC's recent Gillette show. That and the 100.00 price tag for the Gillette Stadium show. I went and had a blast but all told I spent well over 500 to 600.00 bucks for 4 tickets, 40.00 for parking, food and beverages. Kind of tough to do for a lot of people these days. I tend to avoid bigger venues these days because the prices are out of hand. Gillette's concession stands were far better than The Tweeter Center ones and a little more reasonable. |

I had a seat in secton 7 and a freind of mine was in section 11 which is the in the newer seats that took over the bottom 2/3rds of the old lawn. I would say about 1/4 of them were empty. Great show. It was also strange seeing Max's kid on drums. He was pretty good though. Not as crisp as his dad. Doesn't have that same snap to his playing. |

Jay Weinberg plays like Dave Grohl or something.
I was in section 4 on Saturday and the pit last night. They took my girl's sign and played her song... "I'm Going Down". Then Ken Casey came out and sang a song with him. It was such a weird/surreal evening. Great time. Probably the best time I've ever had at a concert. That was my 10th and 11th time seeing him. Hopefully there are at least 10 more times in the future. |
