The elementary school 4 blocks away had over 75 students absent each day a week ago (of a total student body of 294) due to Norovirus, the nasty diarrhea/vomiting/cramps/aches stomach bug.

I do not want this illness. The only way you get it is by swallowing the virus. To do this means contact with a contaminated surface and not washing your hands before eating, or by being in a room where someone has recently vomited, as vomit is aerosoled and in the air for quite awhile after someone pukes. As few as 100 microns are all it takes to transmit it.

I know all this because I had a severe case of it Xmas 2002. Literally non-stop puking and diarrhea for 6-8 hours.

WASH YOUR HANDS. Use soap and hot water. Purell and other bullshit hand sanitizers are ineffective. Stay home if you are sick and clean surfaces with bleach.

I'd rather pay for a swift kick in the nuts than puke. YMMV.

Norovirus is the answer.

The question, "Why are the sink and toilet so close together in a bathroom?"
