I have a feeling that this one will be at the top, or right at the top of my favorite mixes. Have listened to it just one and a half times, but I think it's quite well-done. You don't know what will come next. It flows very well -- a good variety in "dynamics".
The choice for a BOC tune was completely unpredictable. I have that album but never really got to know that title song very well, but now I like it -- solid tune. That Indian (?) song was very interesting. Those people are really getting into it. Really liked the opening song by GBV. The Thin White Rope song was good too -- seemed almost drunken -- who did the original of that song? The song about "my block" -- do I have that right? -- was intense, I liked it. I'll finish up my second listen and maybe add some comments, but regardless, thanks for this. This post has been edited by M.Henry: Aug 29 2008, 08:19 AM |

ok.....MAN!!!
a thinking man's mix...and yet....just turn it on and enjoy it! WHAT is the name of the Marc Ribot track? I like the comparison with Steven R. Smith.... for lovers of mixes in the Joe Coughlin tradition...excellent choices well placed all around. makes me feel i must listen again....because the second time was so different from the first.... I was outside and was lighting my fireplace for BOC track : ) sitting on the front porch reading the local paper relaxing on Labor Day |

WHAT is the name of the Marc Ribot track? Kedem, off _Masada Guitars_ (Tim Sparks and Bill Frissell are also on it). thanks for the comments, glad you dug it! btw, 'a fire of unknown origin' is one of the bonus tracks from the _agents of fortune_ reissue; it's fairly different from the title track version of the record. I can now see that that song was African. Good find there. the song I was referencing was the one with the guy talking about some couple buying a blue-eyed baby for $4000. I guess I had the words wrong. |
