Or ...pretty much any other manager in MLB:
"In a brawl-filled game featuring five ejections, Mike Aviles went 4 for 4 with a home run and Zack Greinke pitched well into the seventh as Kansas City knocked visiting Chicago from first place for the first time since May 16.... There was a bench-clearing brawl in the fifth when KC catcher Miguel Olivo was hit by new pitcher D.J. Carrasco and charged the mound. Olivo, Carrasco, and White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen were sent to the clubhouse once order was restored. "I'm not going to bring a guy in that throws 85 miles an hour to hit somebody. I guarantee it," said Guillen. "I'll bring [Octavio] Dotel, I'll bring [Matt] Thornton. Then I will tell them to throw at them. That's the way I do business." (Boston Globe) |

Ozzie is one of those guys you hate until he is on your team.

Olivo charging the mound was one of the most half-assed "whoa, I'm actually doing this" mound chargings I've ever seen.
He actually stopped and "put up his dukes." That was hilarious. |

One World Series combo I'd love to see (obviously, if my first-choice team doesn't make it!) is Cubs/White Sox. Chicago vs. Chicago-and Lou vs. Ozzie! Watch the Windy City explode.

not me...I love the guy. Didn't some one on the Sox say something similar after AROD got hit...like...we don't bean .250 hitters or something? I heard that story, too. However, I've heard that Arod is notorious for looking back at the catcher to steal signs and/or check his position. If a catcher sees you doing that, he'll signal the pitcher to send it inside. Given the fact that Vtek got right in his face after the beaning, I'll go with that being the most likely reason for that incident. |

Most baseball players/people don't know how to fight. Witness Carrasco's dainty slap to the back of Olivo's head after Pierzinski had full-nelsoned him. Funny stuff. |

I don't understand why they don't do a full on football tackle when they charge, like the pitcher's a tackling dummy, and slam 'em to the ground.
I also don't understand why they don't pull more Izzy Alcantaras before heading to the mound so the catcher won't get 'em. It helps having a big 1st baseman out there. No one charged the mound when Mo Vaughn was out there. |

That wasn't an Izzy. Bell didn't get the catcher; he karate kicked the pitcher, Kison, I believe, and ruined his career.
George Bell did.... and we saw what happened there... Righto. Just for kicks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAYp6v7Owew&NR=1 This post has been edited by MrCheese: Aug 4 2008, 03:29 PM |
