It's a very interesting letter. Nice insight into what some of his thoughts were on the subject. I'd personally rather read Russell, Dawkins or Sam Harris, though...much more "interesting".


But I really need ImIdaho's input on this subject.

Can I just say that I have been an athiest, with no regrets, for almost 20 years.

I have not had a moment of doubt in that time because no one I've ever met has had any argument to counter my own beliefs that isn't essentially "faith".

Well, that one won't sway me and in all honesty most people don't know my beliefs and don't care.

That being said, I'm sure that there's plenty of people on here whose beliefs WILL change over time... maybe even me.

I doubt it though, unless I see some miraculous shit... which is not likely to happen.

really.

I love the whole nonchalant "I'm covering my ass in case God really does exist by saying I have faith, even though I'm pretty sure he doesn't." approach.

Christmas and Easter Catholics. Faith founded in not wanting to offend their peers/family/parents. These are the same people who get married because everyone tells them it's what they should do by a certain age, even though they really have no desire to.

Because, this thread isn't anyone going out of their way to do anything. It's a discussion of Einstein's stated beliefs. People here are merely discussing a news article. It's not like anyone in here is knocking on your door at work telling you God isn't real.
