if the other leauge is full.....

let's have another league but how about something not traditional.

Like let's have 4 hitters......all UTIL guys......
and say 10 Starting Pitchers...........1 Closer.

and maybe put a limit on transactions 1 team can make.....and some weird stat categories.

something outside the box.

thoughts?

I nominate hisdaddy to run this.......this is up his alley. I bet he could come up with something good.

I'm the champ of this kind of thing. Let me run this league.

Here's how it works.

You make a real lineup!!! Here's real micro-managing which puts other leagues to shame!

This separates the boys from the men, check it out:

Leadoff hitter-count stolen bases only.
Second-count batting average only
Third-count homeruns and batting average only
Cleanup-count homeruns and RBI only
Fifth-count batting average and RBI only
Sixth-count RBI only
Seventh-count stolen bases or BA or HR or RBI--you choose
Eighth--same as 7th
Ninth--same as 7th

So instead of just grabbing as many good players as you can, you need to create the demands of an actual baseball lineup, plus there is room to create a fast team, a homerun hitting team with the 7-8-9 option.

Of course, you can change your lineup week to week.

Now for pitching, YOU CHOOSE YOUR CLOSER, and it can even be a starting pitcher! Instead of 'adding up saves' which is stupid, since an owner has no control over 'save opportunities,' you can pick up any pitcher as a closer who can put up good numbers.

So your staff looks like this:

Ace--count WINS, E.R.A. and Whip and Strikeouts
2nd Starter--count E.R.A. and Whip and Strikeouts
3rd Starter--count E.R.A. and Whip
4th Starter--count WINS or E.R.A. or Whip
5th Starter--count WINS or E.R.A. or Whip

Closer--count E.R.A. and Whip
Set Up--count E.R.A.
Middle--count E.R.A. or Whip
Middle--count E.R.A. or Whip
Long--count WINS or E.R.A. or Whip or Strikeouts

It depends what you mean by 'complicated.'

Last year we had 'holds' and I lost that category one week when I had a 1-0 lead and then on the last day, my opponent picked up 2 'holds.'

Andy Pettite, the SP for the Yanks, who had just pitched, made a freak relief appearance and earned a 'hold.' Then my opponent's closer, it might have been Gagne, for Texas, came into close, got an out, pulled a muscle, left the game, and therefore instead of a save, he got 'a hold.'

A team needs middle relief, but the 'holds' category is so wacked, I really don't know whether it should be used or not...

Saves is stupid, too, because you can have a much better bullpen than someone, but still lose 'saves' if they happen to get more save opportunities.

But what the fuck...this all becomes too complicated, as you say...
