For me, it was reading a Pushkin poem in Iowa City, just a short love poem, but very powerful, and it convinced me to go after a girl I had been indifferent towards, but now she was the same to me, and she got under my skin. This was in Iowa, but she loved Boston, and took me there, eventually--I considered myself more of a new yorker--and that's how I ended up in Boston.
