I love the stones, but c'mon doesn't everyone know Kieth is kind of a prick? I'm not sure how I feel about Amy Winehouse's music but she does seem to have some issues. I myself have issues. Kieth has issues. Well, let's face it, we all have issues in one way or another. Not being a part of Kieth or Amy's life I can only go by what the media wants me to know. However, I can and will judge the music they release in an effort to find out if I want to hear more. Other than a song here or there, the Stones haven't done anything for me for a very long time, so I don't really care so much about them in a current sort of way. However, put on Exile On Main St. and I'll prolly listen to the whole thing for the 1,000,000th time with you. My wife really likes Amy Winehouse. I've heard that album a few times. My only problem with it is the lyrics. In terms of her personal isseues, well, they're personal. I'm not her friend or family member so I don't feel my opinion really matters. I do however, hope that if she's unhappy, she figures it out. I don't like to see people in pain. As far as Kieth goes, I hope he continues to be happy being a miserable prick. It makes me laugh and makes for good copy.

I was curious to see her sing live, don't know if I'll ever have any other oppurtunity too, so I watched that award show with the sound turned off until she came on. I'm glad she was able to do it. It seemed important to her. She appeared a little bashful- maybe, not sure of her performance or if anyone liked it. I think she suprised herself. I hope it helps her.

I think she seemed a bit nervous, but she did pretty well, considering the month she's had. Hopefully, winning 5 fucking Grammys will be the reality slap she needs to get her shit together. |

I do think he likes to occasionally throw out a zinger towards a current celebrity. He's been doing this for years now. It is almost his schtick. Maybe it makes him look a little sad now but who cares...he's Keith Richards. |

I mean sure he's a member of a legendary band, but he should perhaps stop throwing stones (no pun intended. well, maybe a little). He does come out with a lot of crap statements. Usually it's how people rip off the stones or how they're not original. Which is pretty funny considering the background of the stones. Don't get me wrong, as an artist, I think he's amazing. But hey, my favorite songwriter of all time is Pete Townshend and he comes off like a dick a lot too. |

They have been through the proverbial wars of rock n' roll. Both are survivors who are somehow standing....I think they may have seen too much b.s. to be pleasant. Still, Keith never struck me as quite as pissy as Townshend. |

I mean they have the fame thing to deal with and that would suck, but still they're very wealthy and powerful men. Townshend is funny at least. Kieth seems a little like he stayed at the party a bit too long. Far be it from me to judge someones sobriety, but Kieth is certainly not "clean" by any stretch. Townshend goes off the deep end once and a while, but I think the constant drunken state that kieth seems to be in has affected his ability to play nice. I know when I go off the deep end I can certainly say and do things I normally wouldn't. |

i Can see the glimmer twins point, i mean just from my youth we knew so little about drugs and alcohol addiciton, from the martini lunches of the 60's to the rampant use of everything in the late '60s and esp '70's.... while picking on my mind-expanding drug experiements my father and step mother were trashed every night on expensive bourbons scotches whiskeys... no social workers busted their chops for it. my parents even offered my friends drinks . we thought it was normal. STILL mick and keef saying oh the youth of today shouldve learned from what we went thru is like saying HEY YOU FUCKERS, LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO CHARLIE PARKER AND BILLie HOLIDAY!!! WASNT THAT ENUF TA TEACH YA???? Guess each generation has to learn for itself. they gop alittle farther even, but hopefully get a little smarter. glad we have more tools and knowledge now. to it seems like people still have a tendency to go " i dont have a problem, not me!" human nature i guess. NOBODY makes drug abuse look as glamorous as the stones and their women, and nobody ever will. |

I know when I go off the deep end I can certainly say and do things I normally wouldn't. No doubt, Keith sort of went beyond a place that Townshend went. Still, Pete was never really the complete waste that he has been portrayed. According to all accounts, he really went completely off the rails from around 1979-1981. Granted he had been a heavy boozer before that but he was also very driven and sort of a committed father and professional during the 70's well. Keith on the otherhand really was off the rails quite a long time and he is the way he is because of it. Still, even despite the fact that he may have "stayed at the party too long", he is in an odd way very articulate and quite clear-thinking. Personally, I think the guy is still very together upstairs and knows what he is talking about (it just comes out a bit slurry). |

Why do you want her to 'get her shit together?' She would suck even more if she did that. Do you think if Jim Morrison lived a normal, healthy life he would have been the singer he was, much less even have been in a band? You people don't get it... Drugs made many of these artists who they were...you're not supposed to say that, but I just did. Any one who wants Amy Whorehouse to 'get her shit together' doesn't get it. There's nothing about Wineblouse that needs mending. Sober and clean, she'd be boring. "Rehab" is her. I don't think there's anything else. Dig? |

Winehouse is too 'perfect' in her imitation for me. I don't sense anything genuine or real under the retro-facade. It really is like listening to good karaoke. The music itself is worth keeping alive, I suppose, so good for her... Holy fuck. I... I... agree with TwistandShout on something. If you'll excuse me, I have to go be sick. |

They took it as a slap in the face that she thought it was easier to stay home and get high then to show up to the shows they invited her to play on. |

He was great until he started doing drugs, then he lost it. I'm torn on whether or not Syd Barrett would have been as great without the drugs/psychosis. He had the talent but the breakdown took him to strange places that he probably wouldn't have gone otherwise. |

I miss the days when rockers were allowed to use excessive amounts of drugs and their labels and managers turned a blind eye.... look at the Stones, Three Dog Night, Mountain, these guys didn't just have drug habits, they had drug CAREERS. Nowadays as soon as Scott Weiland sneaks a little shot of skag they have a photograph of him drooling all over himself whilst hanging out with the Olsen twins on TMZ...
I say let the rock stars do their dope, we'll hear about it after they're dead. |

I understand the drug criticism, but not the "bitch" thing. Seems a little harsh. She's my little rock 'n' roll She's my little rock 'n' roll The heat's raiding, the tracks is fading Joints rocking could be anytime at all But the bitch keeps bitching Snitcher keeps snitching Dropping names and telephone numbers and all She's my little rock 'n' roll She's my little rock 'n' roll The scars healing But the dealers squealing The pool's in but the patio ain't dry Well the sense is sensing That the juice keeps pumping and I know why She's my little rock 'n' roll My tits and ass with soul baby She's my little rock 'n' roll She's my little rock 'n' roll You got to shock them, show them She's my little rock 'n' roll Shock, shock, shock, oh my, my, my Well the sense is sensing That the juice keeps pumping and I know why The bitch keeps bitching Snitcher keeps snitching Dropping names and telephone numbers and all She's my little rock 'n' roll My tits and ass with soul baby She's my little rock 'n' roll You got to shock them, show them She's my little rock 'n' roll She got a feeling to know, baby She's my little rock 'n' roll Ah, the little bitch got soul |

They took it as a slap in the face that she thought it was easier to stay home and get high then to show up to the shows they invited her to play on. Is there one 60s rock icon still living who doesn't draw mostly sniggers from the populace at large these days? Except maybe Tina? As far as Keith being a prick, taking Anita from Brian seemed like kind of an asshole thing to do...he could have had almost anyone... If Keith had stolen Mick's girl, rather than poor Brian's...that would have been cool...if I recall, Mick did steal Anita when she was Keith's, when Mick and her made that movie together... So, Mick can steal Keith's girl, but Keith couldn't do the same. In that pecking order, then, Keith's a tool. Plus Anita was one nasty bitch, anyway, giving heroin to a child during Exile's recording...so it's been written... Also..Keith was the musical genius of that band...so he has to be held responsible for the Stones becoming really rather sucky since 1975... Now, where was I...? |

True, doing too many drugs will push you over the edge, but even BW, even the relatively 'clean' folks, were working in a milleau of drug-taking; I don't think the 60s happens without people getting 'fucked up.' Syd got seriously fried, but I almost think his issue was a child-like rejection of fame and social connection, almost as much as the drugs...he rejected the responsibility of Floyd's fame; Syd was misanthropically twee and this was his charm as well as his downfall... |
