If any of you ever get calls or mailings from some company in Columbus OH named CBCS, it's a scam. These guys left me a message two months ago with "This is Steve from CBCS, we are attempting to collect a debt. By not answering, we are assuming you are this person and will now be responsible for collecting this debt." Smelled a rat, Googled them, most hits came up as a scam. Ignored it.
Just got a letter a few days ago from these same lovely folks saying I owed $268.00 for a back Verizon phone bill (which I've never had anything with Verizon). But they'd be happy to settle for the settlement of 60% of that instead. Just to be on the safe side, I called Verizon and was able to verify the same and that they said they've heard the same scam from others. My aunt got hit by these same people a few years back and she lost a few hundred dollars out of it. So the next time you get any of these, it's bullshit folks, but it looks like they're stepping up their scamming as of late...beware. You may have older relatives or others who may not be aware of this bogus company. Anyone had anything similar happen to them from these people? |

I got blindsided about 4 years ago. Luckily they had the wrong first name - when I told them no one by that first name lived here - he insisted I lied and I better straighten it out or it will go against my credit report.
I asked for a supervisor - stated to the boss to give me his name and phone number so I could check it it out with the Mass Attorney General's office - he hung up. |

lots of these out there, one demanded my bank's routing #, once i refused, they stopped calling... always get all info you can & also beware if they are overly friendly... if they're for real, they'll probably be coldhearted pricks, as their jobs require...

No calls cause I don't have a land line, but a letter. Since I have a "bit" of debt, and just moved 3 months ago, I got a bit shocked when I opened it and said I owed close to $6000... but there was no name on the bill, just the right address... so I didn't even call them. If my name had been there, I sure would have called back! yikes...

I get one of these calls close to once a day (and I have no debt). Usually its a pre recorded voice saying "We are attempting to resolve this matter, and have made numerous attemopts to contact you.." the name they use isn't even mine. I attempted to call back once; didn't even lead to a live persion answering. I assume there are a million spammers out there doing similar things.

Sometimes they are looking for someone who had your phone number previously, or gave them a wrong number (yours) to get them off their back. |

With interest, it is now $1400. Please immediately PM me your routing number and your account number; if you do I will cut what you owe down to $1200. Thanks. |
