Some people think driving slow in bad weather is a sign of not knowing how to drive and being a pussy.
Some people think they'd rather err on the side of caution and worry about other drivers losing control. Some people are assholes and you hate them. |

I don't like the kind who barrel along mindlessly and almost hit me while I'm walking to work.
I got into a screaming fight with some biddy on a cellphone the other night over this. I do not like screaming fights with strangers, especially when they're driving something that could flatten me. |

Other- assholes who think having 4 wheel drive means they can go 50mph and aggressively weave thru traffic while everyone else is going 20.

I hate and fear aggressive semi drivers. My theory is that they feel they have to drive really fast on the downhills to get momentum to drive uphill. They become enraged if anyone gets in front of them when they're accelerating. I know I drive like an old lady (I have never gotten a speeding ticket) but if I'm in the middle lane doing the speed limit on an icy day, I fucking hate it when a semi driver flashes his lights and honks his horn behind me. When did they pass the law that semis can't pass in the fast lane? They always pass me on the right. I just don't like driving in the slow lane when it's icy because I don't like dealing with entering traffic from on-ramps. I think I hate you!! You are one of those "People who are terrified to drive but still do" Funny, beacuse I always wondered :'Who are these people", because, you know, every time the topic comes up everybody is complaining about the same things, never fails, so who are these people!! Well, here you are!! Marvio can kiss my ass. |

If you have to drive slower to maintain control of your car by all means please do so. If there is more than one lane, however, you should be as far right as possible. This is state law year round. Anyone who doesn't stay right, regardless of the weather, is a raging asshole.

When there are three lanes and the right lane contains snow, ice, and cars entering and exiting, I'm driving in the middle lane. Fucking pass me if you don't like it. Shit head. |

Shit head. So when I said "as far right as possible" I meant you were supposed to drive in the snowbank? Go right ahead and drive in the middle lane, I'll be happy to pass you. But if there are only two, pull the fuck over for a moment, you know? |

If you're going roughly the same speed as most of the traffic on the road, the middle lane is fine. A little slower is fine too, they can pass you on the left. Much slower in the middle lane is as much a hazard as some knucklehead bombing 30 mph above the average speed. If you're going too slow in the middle lane, someone will approach you too fast from behind and you could cause an accident.
Anyone who tailgates is an asshole. I think some drivers don't even realize they do it. I remember one time this broad climbed right up my ass, I mean if I tapped my brakes, she would have hit me. So I pulled over into the middle lane (I was in the SLOW lane at the time and the traffic wasn't bad), she immediatedly closed the gap between her and the next car and rode his ass, leaving less than 4-5 feet. I think that's just the way she drove: put her front bumper on the bumper in front of her and she was all set. |

I think that's just the way she drove: put her front bumper on the bumper in front of her and she was all set. I admit, I used to tailgate. Then one day it dawned on me that I really didn't want to pay for an accident, and worse, I didn't want to be all fucked up because I was in an accident, so I stopped. It was stupid and I realized the error of my ways. That's when I discovered that the headlights on SUVs are at the exact same height as the driver's side rear view mirrors on sedans. Much easier to simply pull about a foot to the left and let the headlight go directly into the eyes of the driver. They think I'm flashing my highbeams, but I'm not... it's just a lot brighter because it's like a laser beam to the eyes. People pull aside much faster now. |

I'm all in favor of getting out of the way of faster traffic if I can do so without getting run off the road. I never drive in the left lane for more than a few car lengths when I'm passing.
Anyone know if there's a law preventing semi trucks from passing on the left? I'm really sick of dealing with them on 495. It's not like they're particularly good drivers either...just in a hurry. |

Same thing goes for the little blond girls booming down the pike at 50mph in their new model VW bugs, when everyone else is going 20. Yeah, the same ones that you pass a mile later, stuck in the snow, facing towards traffic. |

Chapter 89 of the MGL has all the rules of the road. The section requiring all traffic to stay to the right except when passing (chap 89, sec. 4): http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/89-4.htm The section prohibiting trucks from the far left lane (chap 89, sec. 4c): http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/89-4c.htm |

It depends on how slow you're talking about. For instance, people that drive too fast for the conditions because they don't know how thin the line between in control and out of control is, are just as bad as people that go like 5 mph when not called for.....or at least not all the way to the right when they do it.
I always go slow in the snow. I don't crawl, but you won't catch me going over 50. However, I leave plenty of room in the right lane(s) for the people that think they're invincible. As far as passing on the left? Sometimes it happens. It's how it happens that makes all the difference in the world. Sometimes people all get in the fast and middle lanes because they think that they are automatically faster. Well, hello. They're not. If i'm stuck in the middle lane in traffic, and someone drives by me at normal speed(the speed limit or slightly above), just faster than me, I don't care. Actually, i'll probably follow them. I'm in the right lane most the time anyway, so I end up passing people all the time just because their lane is jam packed. Sometimes they pass me again as their lane gets going. Whatever. It really doesn't matter. But, if i'm in the high speed lane, being polite, giving someone a chance to get out of my way, and then some impatient asshole comes up and automatically goes by in the middle lane, then i'm angry. That's lack of patience. Lack of patience causes bad situations all the time....whether it be accidents or just close calls. After some time behind the guy that's oblivious to the fact that they're blocking traffic, i'll pass on the right. Absolutely. |
