Arrest made in the murder of Linda Stein Police: personal assistant of "Realtor to the Stars" taken into custody (New York - WABC, November 9, 2007) - The New York Police Department says the personal assistant of "Realtor to the Stars" Linda Stein has been arrested in her brutal murder. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne says charges are pending against the assistant, Natavia Lowery of Brooklyn. Browne says the suspect has "made statements implicating herself" in the killing. Lowery, a personal assistant, was the last person to speak with Stein before she was murdered. Apparently, investigators zeroed in on her when they learned she had a prior arrest for misdemeanor identity theft. Unknown to Stein, Lowery was accused in December of stealing a high school friend's identity and using it to open accounts at Target and T- Mobile. The victim said additional bills were racked up in Virginia. However, the misdemeanor charges against Lowery were dropped and the case sealed. Stein was trusted Lowery with her big bucks celebrity clients' financial secrets, including Social Security and bank account numbers. The 62-year-old Stein, punk rock pioneer and real estate broker to the stars, was found bludgeoned to death in her 18th-floor Upper East Side apartment on Oct. 30. She was the ex-wife of Seymour Stein, the former president of Sire Records, which was the launching pad for the Ramones, Talking Heads and Madonna. |
