How much of this did they have? That footage has been seen briefly in TKAA. Did they have more than one tune? I have a bootleg of The High Numbers. They were stretching it out onstage even back then. more footage then i had ever seen. maybe 2 songs, but not complete. |

Judging from the brief clips of Happy Jack and I'm A Boy I have seen from the London Coliseum show, it looks like one that could potentially match Tanglewood. Still, Tanglewood is by the far the best I have seen. I watched it all again this past Saturday night. The Happy Jack clip from the Coliseum is a cool Keith bit (Isle of Wight is my other favorite for Keith shots). A clean complete Tanglewood would be a fantastic release. You know, I really hadn't listened to The Who in years & years. When I was a kid, I used to spin their records non-stop, but over time, I guess I just got sick of 'em.
But then I saw them play for the firefighters, back on 9/11, and I was like "Awesome!!!" I remember being really excited to see them play after so many years. And then, crash and burn, John dies right when they're about to go on tour. I had planned to see them but decided it just wasn't going to be worth the money without John. Flash forward to the other day when I caught their VH1 show. Now I'm psyched about The Who again! Seeing Keith play. I mean WOW. They were soooo good. I'd forgotten how good. Maybe I'll spin one of their albums this week. I think my copy of The Kids are Alright is still OK. Not sure if my record player still works though. |

By all accounts their Great Woods/Tweeter show immediately following John's death was pretty amazing actually. Anyway, I completely understand your logical as I felt the same way at the time. |

The official band website is now online here
Roger's blog cracked me up: MESSAGE FROM ROGER Welcome to The Who's first online home. I feel about as useful as a pork chop in a synagogue with all this Internet bollocks. I suppose it keeps millions of people in virtual conversation, which saves them getting too burned by reality, but as you may have gathered I'm not a big fan of it. I'm always ready to be won over though and will endeavour to give it my best shot to keep it interesting. It's a bit of an empty room here at the moment (not all the furniture's arrived yet) but it's a start, which will evolve and grow to be a useful resource for you to keep up with what The Who is up to. And it's great to have our music and our history as a band and as individuals in one place. Even if it is virtual. I hope you enjoy it. But do me a favour; leave the screen turned off sometimes. Go out. Get a life. Be lucky, Roger |

I highly recommend The Kids Are Alright. One of the greatest rock and roll movies of all time. If not the greatest. I know many here will disagree, but the fact that the Who carried on without Keith Moon was the pinnacle of cynicism. Moon was not just a sideman who could be replaced. Ditto for John. |
