I found it odd that during the weather yesterday morning on Fox news the weather guy mentioned that the snow in Denver may effect your fantasy team.

Because nothing new has developed in the "war" in about 2 years. It's a stalemate.

People want to be entertained once in a while. Not everyone spends their days crying about how horrible life is and how we're all going to die eventually.

I understand "America's pastime" and all...and I'm not all bummed about the stagnate war. But it seems like people get swept up, like you say: "like sheep" and go nuts. Kinda fake. Believe me, I grew up in Wisconsin and Packer fans are just as/maybe even gayer.
But I am surprised at how many musicians are into sports.
When I was in high school, I was bigger than all the football players and the coach axed me to play. I told him, "I got better things to do than run laps for you". He later tried to fail me in Health class.
I was busy practicing, playing with bands and gigging.
How many of you musicians are year round, lifetime fans and how many are hangers on?

Spectator sports is (are?) the opiate of the masses.

That said, even I have been watching the playoffs a bit...

i also grew up in Wisconsin, and i'm a cheesehead for life, year-round

however, one day in high school i had a revelation at football practice --- i thought "this sucks, this isn't fun anymore, i'd rather be playing Hendrix riffs on my guitar" --- i put my equipment in my locker, walked home, and never played football again

then i did marching band (which also sucked, but it was better than playing football), jazz band, concert band, played in rock bands, etc.

Why is Boston so "gay"? for baseball?

Here's a better question...Why the preoccupation with "Gay"?
We're just talking about baseball.

Marching band is the WORST! All the horn players wanted to be jocks but couldn't, so....!

I love baseball, more specifically the Sox...but I despise the majority of the current fanbase, the yahoo reporters who stand outside Fenway wearing Red Sox jackets, and the way it has become fashionable just to be at Fenway. There are so many people who go to games now that don't really care about the games, are confused why people are "booing" whenever Youkilis comes up to bat, and use the word "we" when talking about the team. I'm only in my early 30's, so I'm not some bitter old fan who thinks it's essential to suffer in order to be a fan of the team..but I can't stand the way that every where I go people who have NO understanding of the game of baseball want to have conversations about last nights big win while I pay for my gas or stand in line for beer.

The Packers rule. I was a fan when Bart fucking Starr was the quarterback (and I lived in Long Island, NY at the time)-- so far, this has been the best season for the Cheeseheads in a LONG time (since the Pack beat the Pats in the Super Bowl, I reckon).

For someone with 22 posts, I'm beginning to like the way you think. Couldn't have said it better myself.

For someone with 5454 posts I'm beginning to like the way you think, especially with the McCarthy quote in your signature.
