Well, Pedroia didn't exactly help things by running up on him and doing the fucking hand jive. Plus, the runner at third would have likely scored had Youk caught it (which yes, he should have).

What really killed us just after that was Wake touching that fucking infield ground ball without setting it up for a double play. That was really the fucking worst.

Nope. Perfect play to tag because Youkilis was running with his back to the plate (and further away than you think). Plus the runner can go on first touch. Youk's juggling act ensured that he had plenty of time to make it. In that case, getting the out would have definitely cost them a run.

So watching Wakefield deflect the likely inning-ending double-play ball to Pedroia was even more frustrating.

In the end, 2/3's of the lineup is not hitting, so defensive stops become magnified.
