Awakening Stick is a Boston-based hard rock power trio whose thoroughly modern sound is the result of the members’ updated interpretations of acid rock, punk, garage, and 70’s metal blended together-which has prompted comparisons to “a cross between Hüsker Dü, The Damned, and the Dead Kennedys” as well as a “punk-rock Blue Öyster Cult...with a sense of humor.”

Matt and I are now calling ourselves The Vogon Poets. Dan posted this two years ago when we were still together. The music is still up on the Myspace pge, but I don't have the password to try to keep it active.

DC evolved into The DC4 (with Jessica from Apple Betty). [Harder rock, more punky, male/female trading lead vox] 2009 CD reviewed in July issue of The Noise. Check out www.myspace.com/thedc4 "The DC4 sound is influenced by the 70s but with the uptempo punk/rock energy of now. Kind of angry at the world but with a self-deprecating sense of humor. Throw in a little geeky sci-fi/gamer vibe and punk attitude alongside some deeply reverential hard rock roots and you get the picture. Putting true stories to music. Intense stories and intense music all based on real situations from our lives. We evolved from a solo project by DC, the former bass player/co-singer for Boston Indie-Punk-Psych-Rock group Awakening Stick. We began existence as a side-project, sort of a creative outlet for harder edged tunes that were either too heavy or snarly for that group's happy-go-lucky sensibilities. Helping get these tunes out to live shows, Jessica (from local punk goddesses Apple Betty) is on bass/vocals. Glen Anderson plays guitar and Dan Jeffs is on drums. The vibe is amazing live and things kind of took off after the first show so we hit the studio." |
