Take away the party, you couldn't fit the 50,000 people at the melody tent. at $43.50 - $128.50 + the ticketmaster fee's, event parking $40.00 a car, $150.00 an RV or $200.00 for a bus. it seems like it would be much cheaper to have a party at home. wacko.gif

Jimmy Buffett has created some of the shittiest music known to man.

Jimmy Buffett fans are some of the biggest douchebags known to man.

That whole "Parrot Head" culture makes me wonder whether mass murder is always a bad thing.

These are all facts. My mother's husband's best friend is a ha-yoooge Buffett fan, and he is in fact, the biggest douchebag known to man. He wears cowboy gear for Pete's sake. He's a fricken electrician. Dinkis.

Had the misfortune of playing a sidestage at a Jimmy Buffet event years back. A bunch of suburban white people who "party" once a year. There were some revelers who were close to death, no joke. It was as if you gave a tub of vodka to a group of 3rd graders.

My daughter knew her roomate at college was an asshole as soon as she told her she was a "mega Jimmy Buffet fan!!!!"

What happens to an 18 year old kid that she becomes a fan of Jimmy Buffett?

smile.gif He hates me because once at a big outdoor party he put on some live Buffett cd, and immediately ruined the whole mood. So I was up at the stereo not 30 seconds later and I took it off and put on Let There Be Rock and everyone cheered. Friggen gap toothed midget. Fricken pressed Lee jeans.

Half of the Ramones' fans were assholes too, but that didn't keep them from being great....I'm not saying Buffett's great, but I can think of lots of people far more annoying than him (Lenny Kravitz, Dave Matthews and Beck, for starters). Take away the party shtick and Buffett's really the link betwen the James Taylors of the world, and the Little Feat/Neville Brothers realm (one of the greatest slide guitariost alive, Sonny Landreth is now in his band). In terms of image I'd say he fits the middle-aged swinger mold- more a Dean Martin type than anything else. I dn't go to the shows, but own a couple hits compilations and they seem pretty pleasant to me.

He should change his name to Bufft. It's like a fart sound. Very appropriate.

The Changes In Latitudes album is pretty decent, this was before he devolved into self-parody of course.

Come Monday is a decent example of 70's soft rock that doesn't suck.

I don't go to the shows either but no one is getting hurt if some suburban parents who probably spend most of their time either working or dealing with their kids want to cut loose a little?

I suspect there is a clear intersection between the people here obsessed with MILFs and Cougars and obsessed with hating Jimmy Buffett. You can't really have it both ways.
