Dated late June...

Mr. Butch gets social security checks and has been saving up to get a scooter for years now. He's going to die. I think Sue told me that on the first day he got the scooter he ran into a pole and broke off the right side rear view mirror.

Yeah. If he's dead, it is very sad, but I don't think predicting a drink driving accident for Mr. Butch was Nostradamus-esque.

If anybody is planning to buy a 40 of high life to dump it out in his honor, I'll be waiting at the corner of Comm Ave and Washington with a mug.

I am very sorry to report that Mr. Butch is dead. I have a confirmation.

There will be a memorial service Monday, July 16th beginning at 8pm. Meet at Ritual Arts.

He was transferred alive to B&W this morning with a broken neck and passed away about an hour later.

There will be an obit in the paper on Sunday.

Rest in Peace Mr. Butch.

Fuck. When I lived in Allston and worked at Ritual Arts and Flyrabbit, I got to know the guy pretty well-- as well as anyone ever did, I suppose. Rest in Peace, man. If I could send weed to heaven like I can send prayers, you'd be high for eternity.

Despite his living conditions, Butch was a gentleman in every sense of the word. From my limited experiences with him, he was very thankful for what was offered to him and always willing to share what very little he had.

Here's hoping he's found peace.

God bless you Butch.

Last time I saw him I bought was at the Chinese Liquor store in Allston (right near where he died). I was getting beer for our practice with my old guitarist Dave. Whe Mr. Butch walked in it was almost like a celebrity had come into the store. In fact, he was a celebrity of sorts. I think we bought him a 24 oz beer if I'm not mistaken. RIP. Maybe there will be a local show at O'Brien's in his honor. In fact, I think this is a must.
