Okay, so there are a bunch of current local bands that remind me of old established bands, that is the theme.Pretty basic. Some are obvious, some probably only make sense to me, but they are all good tunes. I was helped in the compilation of the comparisons by a small directed raid on smcd's CD collection. Purple songs are by the established bands, brown are the local bands that inspired me. There were many more, but I decided not to push my luck. 1) My Man, A Sweet Man – Millie Jackson 2) He'll Take It – World's Greatest Sinners 3) 16 Shells From A Thirty-Ought-Six- Tom Waits 4) Blame It On The Devil- Frank Morey 5) Lies – The Fabulous Knickerbockers 6) All I Really Wanna Do Is Cry – Muck and The Mires 7) Little Doll – The Stooges 8) What I Came Here For – The Konks 9) Uncontrollable Urge – Devo 10) Rock and Roll is For The Poor – The Curses 11) Your Ass Is Next In Line – The Mummies 12) Frankenstein – The Coffin Lids 13) Down to You – Taxi Boys 14) (How Can I Break Up With You If You Don't) Call Me – Joe Lies 15) Who Was In My Room Last Night- The Butthole Surfers 16) She'll Know You – The Hidden 17) Comeback – Urban Dance Squad 18) Bitches Egyptian – Wack Ass Egyptians 19) Empty Box – Morphine 20) Whisper Whenever – Mercy James Gang 21) Lysander – Robyn Hitchcock and the New Egyptians 22) Needless to Say – Scamper This post has been edited by Rudegirl: Nov 15 2006, 07:47 PM |

This was a really great idea that made for a fun CD. I finally got to hear the World's Greatest Sinngers and they were pretty fantastic. I still haven't got to the end of this (I'm slow on such things) but I need to as I can finally hear the Mercy James Gang. Yay!
P.S. Shaaaaaaaarp cover |
