Not sure how many of you knew or remember Jimmy but I thought I would post here in case it might reach someone who would want to be aware of the services. If you were in either the Sept 2004 or March 2005 you might recall that I included Haloes songs on both. If you saw me at a show it wasn't uncommon to see Jimmy with me. At least last year, not so much recently. The last time I saw him was when we hit the Abbey Lounge for the New Frustrations/Underball/Mung/Jerry's Kids show. Jimmy was a troubled but gentle soul and I hope he has found peace. Here is a link to his obit:
James (Jimmy Reject) Harrington Here's a pic bmo took of Jimmy singing "Drink Fight and Fuck" with the Gobshites: ![]() This post has been edited by MrWhirly: Aug 17 2006, 06:58 AM |

I am glad to have known Jimmy...I met him through BMO and enjoyed his company...or should I say antics any time I saw him....I hope his pain is gone now...I only wish he could have found another way.

This is so sad ...
I met Jimmy at our show at The Abbey with Mung..My Whirly introduced us and all he did was say such nice things about my band..he seemed very nice and a bit troubled but cool just the same .. He then wrote in No-Wave 'zine one of the best reviews I have ever received for one of my bands ..I was quite touched .. I come from a background of what was some of Jimmys troubles and stuff like this really hits me in the heart ...I am touched to have met him and very saddened by his demise .. Tim The New Frustrations (Insert any one of a 100 Pink Floyd lyrics here...) |

Sorry to hear about this.
I didn't know Jimmy well but saw him around at shows for over the past 10 or so years and played some shows with him. He used to do the most amazing slow motion slam dance at the Rat and Mideast shows in the 90s that used to crack me and my ex-bandmates up. That used to be a highpoint for most of those shows. We'll miss seeing him around. |

DAMN
I also met Jimmy through BMO when I invited them to share my table two(?) years ago at Bean Town Zine Town......Jimmy and BMO did readings that night at Mass Art (originally I was going to perform some synth noise behind them but the format of the reading changed).....I video'd Jimmy reading a section from his first book....pretty intense....I was *supposed* to make digital copies for them....I fucking suck...... After the readings Jimmy and I hung out at the 99(?) over near NU. He was troubled but totally capable of overcoming. I think sometimes people were shitty to him, but writing helped him resolve problems. I thought we'd hang out more.....and planned on doing BTZT (now called Boston Zine Fair(?) again this spring but I dropped the ball....... I can't even imagine he's dead FUCK |

I believe his first book is still available at Interpunk and possibly Pelado Records. I feel I should warn anyone interested in reading his stuff that it can be a bit graphic and intense. Not that I think it's a bad thing, I think he was exorcising some of his demons and such. I would also note that I think he was still trying to find his voice in these books. I find his latter writings to be much more indicative of what he was capable of. I would say that in the last year or so his writing had grown in leaps and bounds. |

Why would anyone want to kill themselves...Just a lousy way to go... leave this thread, you douche. You're like an old lady from Long Island on her front porch talking with her only friend that will listen: the neighbors dog. This post has been edited by ZiggyBoofa: Aug 17 2006, 10:19 AM |

This is the second friend I've lost to suicide this year. It totally sucks. Jimmy had so many problems, but he never lost his passion for two things: punk rock and writing. Was he a "great writer"? How the hell do I know. I know he could express things in his writing that I could never have gotten near. Things I could hardly even conceive of. I know I have days when I doubt the value of continuing to breathe and eat and take up space on this shitball called Earth....but I also know I've never felt half as bad on my worst days as Jimmy felt almost every day. It's a miracle he lasted as long as he did, and that he managed to create as much as he did during his time.
Rock on, Jimmy. |

Wow, anyone read his books? I might buy them etc. I saw him at clubs on occasion, very jovial and energetic. He seemed like a nice guy with a passion for punk rock and music. It's a shame that someone who contributed to the local music scene as much as he did passed awy..
Perhaps the music community should get together and put a show together to honor the contributions he made both in music and in writing.. |

His writing was as close to Punk music as anything I've ever read - raw and unpolished and full of every emotion in the entire spectrum. |
