I heard that President Obama and the Democratic congress are going to give Bush whatever he wants. Republicans are on the march.
Pin thread. End internet forever. |

Obama's piddly little Electoral College-technicality 'win' so pales next to Bush's MANDATES that the Democratic party will be giving Bush whatever he wants long after Bush is in the grave. End of thread. |

If Jack Abramoff was a democrat, he'd still be a lobbyist and they'd erect a monument of him in DC with a roll of quarters taped to the inside of his leg.
'nuff said, pin the thread, armageddon upside your head. |

Total strawman argument. I am yet to hear a single person on the left say anything of the sort. I would venture that this election was a repudiation of the GOPs principles of deregulation of corporations, corporate wellfare, and flawed neo-con foreign policy among other things. People are pissed because of the removal of individual liberties (see The Patriot Act, wiretapping, Gitmo, etc). You're looking waaaayy too deep into this. The vast majority of people don't have a grip on how govt. works. They can't name the branches of govt., they can't name more than 2 Supreme Court Justices, and they likely don't know who their congressman is. People see economic difficulties, or at least they're being told of economic difficulties on a daily basis, and they blame the party who holds the White House. When the democrats lost big in 1994, it was due to the economy being in the shitter. They saw Clinton in charge, and voted Republican. Same now, except the worm has turned. |

That's how FDR beat Hoover. That's how (to a lesser degree) JFK beat Nixon. That's how Reagan beat Carter. That's how Clinton beat Bush the Elder. That's how Obama beat McCain. Yet the presidency still doesn't determine the economy. |

If he is a big a pussy as the crop of democrats that "took over" the congress in 2006 were and probably still are... he probably even does a little dance for dubyah. I'd say he's good for at least six years the by way clinton got blamed for every bush fuck-up. Really?? I don't recall that happening much beyond Bush's first year in office. And then only in regard to the 9/11 attacks and the economic downturn (which were absolutely legit criticisms) Are you starting to lower expectations for Obama's presidency already?? |

That's funny, because i recall it happening well into his second term. I don't know that I have expectations for the obama presidency, other than an improvement on the current administration, so yes, maybe you're right, that is setting my expectations rather low. |

Aren't you the same guy who just confirmed that the presidency doesn't determine the economy. Exactly, bra. Exactly... |
