Low fat, not fat free, unless it is an exception and it tastes great.

Like the Trader Joe's Cheddar Cheese Potatoes Au Gratin, No artificial flavors, no preservatives, 1/2 c 90 calories, Fiber 2g, Fat Calories .5.

For dessert I make angel food cake covered in berries (bluberries, strawberries, blackberries, etc.) and low fat cool whip. Actually, regular whipped cream is very low in fat as well.

My husband has a big sweet tooth and he loves this.

One of my favorites:

Mocha Ricotta Creme

1/2 cup part-skim ricotta cheese
1/2 tsp of unsweetened cocoa (Rockit bought Ghiradelli for me) biggrin.gif
1/4 tsp vanilla
1 package sugar substitute (I use Wholesome "ZERO")
Dash of espresso powder
5 mini choc. chips. (I use 80% dark chocolate chunks)

Mix the sugar sub, espresso, & cocoa together. Add the ricotta and vanilla. Mix again (obviously) Put those chunks o' choc on top.

Eat.

First, stop snacking. Next quit booze. Third, get some regular exercise (unfair to assume this is about maintaining a healthy weight?)...

When I'm on the wagon, my favorites are:

celery sticks with scoops of Green Mountain Gringo salsa (unless you make your own salsa)

salad with grilled chicken and salsa

peas with homemade marinara sauce

grilled vegetable kabobs (peppers, onion, tomato, squash, etc seasoned with prudhommes vegetable rub)

hummus with japanese sesame rice crackers

yogurt, granola and fruit parfait (I'm addicted to apples)

but most importantly, state of mind. I buy a salad everyday at lunch. It is so painful to walk into the lunch place and do it over and over again, but I have made a promise to myself. Once I start eating it, I'm loving it. Sometimes it's the mental battle when shopping and cooking - resisting temptation - that poses the greatest challenge.

if you shop Trader Joe's one of my favorite low fat, low calorie treats from there is their Spanikopita (frozen spinach pie). it's a pretty big tray, 4 servings, 4grams of fat and like 260 calories per serving. A slice for lunch (1/4 and it's decent sized) with salad is heaven.

I had forgotten about this -- they recommended something like this in the South Beach Diet. But this recipe sounds better, I think.

I can't believe the spanikopita could be that low in fat.

Thanks, guys, great suggestions -- I'm so hungry!!
