Admittedly, I haven't seen a second of the US version, but I'm such a devotee of the original I might just hold a grudge against it. Perhaps I'll download a few and check it out - I'll try to be objective.

Aside from the pilot episode, which is a direct adaptation, it's an entirely different show.

It's tough at first because you're comparing all the characters to the UK ones.

As much as I like Dwight in the US version he is nowhere near as funny as Gareth. Todd Packer is pretty close to Chris Finch though.

As Dan said, it's a battle at first because you're constantly comparing it to the UK version. But the US version is a well-written sitcom, and Carell in particular has enough cringe power to light up Chicago.

That episode had everything! And even without a cliffhanger I am so looking forward to next season. Yay Office writers.

Ryan, the sneaky little bastard, is doing alright considering that as of last week he never made a sale.

They really highlighted Karen's unlikable side. I wonder if Ryan will scoop up some rebound action since it appears likely she will hotfoot it back to NYC after her dual rejections.

For fans of the original: Is the US version worth checking out after having seen the brilliant British Office? I'm dubious...

you're also just saying this so you can look cool and original and thumbing your nose to America.

but they're definitely not.

i think creed is my favorite character on the show. 'swing low, sweet chariot.' -- very good.
