WENATCHEE, Wash. - A teenager was charged with assault for allegedly smearing peanut butter on the forehead of a classmate he knew suffered from a severe nut allergy.

The charge leveled against Joshua Hickson, 19, is punishable by up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine, the Wenatchee World newspaper reported. He was suspended from school.

Wenatchee police allege the incident happened at lunch at Wenatchee High School on Sept. 8 when Hickson overheard a conversation about the victim’s allergy.

He allegedly grabbed another student’s sandwich and used his fingers to smear peanut butter on the victim’s forehead.

The victim told Hickson he was allergic, but Hickson allegedly put more peanut butter on his fingers and struck again, a Wenatchee police report said.

Although the victim did not have a reaction, police said the incident “could have been fatal.”

When was growing up, I never even heard of kids being allergic to peanuts. I think I knew one kid who had asthma. Now it seems like every other kid is an asthmatic and the others cant eat peanut butter. I blame all the sanitation and filtration of everything now.

My point exactly,bra! there wasnt peanut disease, maybe 2 kids had asthma ( who know smoke a pack a day and suddenly dont weeze anymore), and there was always soda in the soda machine..not VEGGIE FRIES n shit!

My ten year old just got a 3 day in-house suspension for poking a friend of his with a staple. They were goofing around. I get a call from the Asst. Principal telling me that "it didn't break the skin, but the other child was shaken up." When the official notice arrived by mail it said the offense was "Stabbing another student with a staple". I grounded is ass, but, did so grudgingly. They make such big deals out of everything now.
