TRASHLIGHT VISION vocalist/guitarist Acey Slade (ex-MURDERDOLLS) was attacked from behind on Monday, October 16 by an unknown patron and hit several times in the head with a beer bottle inside the bar where the band had performed earlier in the evening. He was treated for a concussion and lacerations to the head, and later released from UNC hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C. Acey continued to perform with the band for the next two nights before seeing a specialist in New York City today (Friday, October 20). Due to blood and fluid on the ear drum, which has now progressed into an infection, the band will have no choice but to pull off the remaining dates with 45 GRAVE. They will pick back up on the road again beginning November 10 at Zakk's in Murfreesboro, N.C.
So here's what happened...

Man, I didn't want to do this, but here you go. I was hoping the whole thing would go away and not give this fuckhead any validity, but there are so many rumors right now and feel like I need to clear this up.
So. The 45 Grave tour was awesome. In my stage rap during 'Horn's and Halo's' each night I talked about this. The crowd that came out to these shows RULED. It wasn't just Goths, or Punks, or Rockers, or Blacks or Whites. It was a cross section of people who ALL felt like they did NOT want to be part of the mainstream. MY band is about bringing people together and does NOT segragate. I loved walking around after our set and talking to such diverse people. Skins, Mexicans, Death Rockers, you name it.
So...we played our set and opened up a can of Whoop-ass as Trashlight always does. There was one guy close to the front who looked like a skinhead, though I can't be sure. There was NO interaction with him at all. Nothing to make me think there was a problem. He even told Rag's after the show that he liked the show. We have toured europe with Stiff Little Fingers and the Buzzcocks and I've dealt with 200 lb, Fred Perry/Doc Martien wearing Skinheads spitting beer and worse at us. So we are pretty quick to sus out who the trouble maker may be.
I pack up my gear and go out to hang with everyone. The Bar was in a separate room the Live room where the bands played. I took about 3 steps into the bar, saw some friends, smiled and opened my arms to give a hug.
At this point I think, 'Wow-this club should really do something about the cinderblocks that are falling from the roof!' But I hear, 'You Motherfucker!' from behind and the friend who I'm about to hug, screams. I was so stunned that I wasn't able to react. But after about 4 hits I turn and see Mr. Skinhead deliver the 5th blow with a beer bottle to the side of my head.It wasn't the cinderblocks from the ceiling after all! The sound guy throws him out out and I'm standing there looking at everyone, looking at me going, 'Am I OK?'
Finally, they sit me down and put a towel to my head for the bleeding.
The cops show up, then the ambulance.
I went to the hospital where I had a CAT scan, which was cool. But I had a concussion and the tissue around my skull was cut. So they had to stitch that, then staple my scalp together.
All along, I kept asking them to check my ear because I knew it was fucked, but the Dr.'s keep telling me it's fine.
My boys pick me up and we have to get out quick to get to the NYC show. We drive all night to get into NYC.
The next 2 shows were NYC and Allentown PA. 2 Hometown gigs. We went all the way around the US and there was NO WAY I was letting this keep me down.
Did the 2 shows, but my ear is hurting worse by the day and my balance is fucked. So, on the day off I saw a specialist. Just as I had thought, there was damage to my ear. Nothing permanate! But I needed to give it a rest if I didn't want it to become more serious.
Now.. I don't give a fuck about concussions or stitches/staples. Big deal. Let'em rip open. I've bleed on stage before, and I will again. BUT with the hearing.... can't risk that.
To settle some rumors/questions. They didn't catch him. I'm not dead. I'll be fine. We will be back on the road soon.
Thanks to the staff at the Bar for acting quickly. The guys in my band for helping me get back on my feet. The kids at the bar that held the towel to my head, who ever you were!~ Also, thanks to all of 45 Grave, especially Dihna for a great tour!
I wouldn't trade my tattoos or my scars, I look around and some how they took me far!

I live and work in Cambridge. All I've ever seen besides the flyers/stickers is that lone skinhead with the RAC patches who used to drink at The Cambridgeport. There were some problems with Cambridge skins at The Overdraught last year, one night right before it closed, but I wasn't there and I don't know if it was the same group.

Apparently there's been some neo-nazi skinhead problems at the Abbey a few times, but nothing the bartender can't handle.

Outside of the WP skins who came out from fucking Pennsylvania to beat up a bunch of punks in Somerville a few years back, I haven't heard much actual incidences of racist skins running around Boston save for a few here and there.

I don't think that strain of shittines will ever amount to more than a nuisance up in these parts. That situation with the KSS dudes was actually preceded by an incident in Providence not Boston. *(They must be Polish WP skinheads).

Probably, who knows. its the stuff of internet WP folk lore now. From the shit I heard the KSS dudes got their asses beat in Providence - knew someone in the Boston area who knew where the kids lived (in Somerville), gave them directions and sent them on their way.Fortunately that kid who got the worst of it with a sledgehammer (and had nothing to do with the previos night's incident) is doing fine.

Those Pennsylvania dudes have more than enough on their plate now - taking on the Hammerskins. I hope they film this................if it ever actually goes down.
