Case in point: ![]() Look at that blue-eyed, leather-faced dolt and the ridiculous pride he takes in his shiny new toy. He displays the rapt attentiveness of a toddler examining his own ripe turd; the bowl haircut of a fat aristocratic midget who's about to commit himself to a monastery after his midget wife has just been fatally mauled by a powder-gray weimaraner, and the fascinated self-regard of a magpie ducking its head and pecking at a shiny piece of bottleneck it has just extruded from a flophouse dumpster. And, it's an automatic. |

Are those tinted windows? Tinted windows? Wow! I see--he likes that flatterin' whiff of bad boy cuz like most sedentary d00ds he likes bein' dangerous an' droppin' gs at the end of gerunds 'n' stuff. You know--livin' la vida loca, esse. Of course, as any lad of twelve could tell you, choosing to own a so-called muscle car with an automatic transmission is exactly like taking the muffler off of a hearse--it rather defeats the purpose, although this gay and fancy-free individualist cares not about such superficial externalities--in this regard, if in no other, he places comfort before fashion. Further note that wonderful shirt--bright orange-red of a variety associated with prisoners and mental patients. Also, the position of the hand on the brand-kleen blue jeans, straying intriguingly close to the genital area while at the same time remaining a fraction of an inch away from accusations of a public self-groping; and the shoes--are those some sort of moccasins, Big Chief Prison Orange Blue Jean Codpiece Diddler? Pray tell! This post has been edited by dimenno: Feb 25 2010, 12:15 PM |

My guess is that his guitar teacher was old school and used a set of pliers to crush his pinkie whenever he was doing his fingering improperly.

Boy oh boy, has this ever been an epic week over at the little clandestine hideaway in the woods in the hills behind the school where the ninth graders go to sneak butts and brews.
I see that Flipper is still shrieking like a sick monkey playing handball with his own ca-ca, oblivious to the fact that anybody with any sense should by now know him as a trimmer and a bit of a cad. Even more humorous though, is the garrulous creature calling himself Danny Vermin, who has grown as querulous as Frank Sinatra pledging the last drop of his blood to Ed Sullivan. http://sinatraguide.com/books1.htm http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1350...pg=7459,3315519 I look forward to many more entertaining nanoseconds exploring their fascinating psychotic squawks and lubberings. |

Poor Danny...like a snapping cur on a leash being teased. I guess the mankin has been flayed enough for now.
One more thing though: Check his future posts to see whether he does any of the following: 1. Stop to Think. 2. Realize That What You Don't Know Can Hurt You. 3. Respond to What People Are Actually Saying and Not To What You Think They Are Saying. 4. See Yourself Before Presuming to Pass Judgment. 5. Eschew My-side Bias. 6. Don't Be Trapped by Categories. 7. Don't Jump to Conclusions. 8. Don't Triumphantly Introduce Fuzzy Evidence. 9. Don't Be Blind to Hidden Causes. 10. Don't Be Blind to the Big Picture. Let's see if he does any of those things. Probably not. I've counted as many as six violations in a single post. |

Which is moot as he no longer is allowed here. You have won. Savor the victory and let it go. It's getting creepy, sir. |

Yes. In all fairness, I did warn him not to get in a verbal sparring match with a person who buys his ink by the barrel.
Maybe now he's learned his lesson, so now I'm off the case. |

Yep. I was browsing the McFarland pop culture catalog and a book search led me to that. I ordered a bunch of stuff from the catalog from the Massachusetts Virtual Catalog, notably, WILD BEYOND BELIEF, and Superheoroes and Gods by LoCicero (because it just has to be better than All Our Gods Wear Spandex). Nobody will lend Film Noir Guide by Keaney, but some college libraries have it and maybe I'll get it through one of them. No such luck, however, with Rock Band Name Origins by Metzer. None of these books are cheap. Even the softcovers run from 35-50 bucks a pop. McFarland - the same people who publish baseball research books? top notch but yes very expensive. Didn;t know they covered anything outside of sports (if it is the same, out of UNC or something?) |

Yeah--the same ones. They have a sideline in pop culture books, none of which seem to be all that essential. As for a book which is better than All Our Gods Wear Spandex, I would highly recommend Grant Morrison's Supergods, which I am just now finishing.
