The one thing that strikes me about the tit for tat between hil and obama is calling her out as being in the old boys club. I think that will instill a sense of security w/ some folks. Might work against him.

Get liberals to believe this and win a prize. If you could prove that Rove had 63 lumps of evil coal in his stocking they would gladly tell you the Clinonistas only have 62 and be proud of it. here's the difference between Rove and the Clintons Clinton: "A clinton spokesman today alleged that Obama used pot and cocaine during his youth. When pressed on these allegations, the Clintons disavowed the spokesman and asked him to resign." Rove: "We don't know that Bill Clinton Killed John F. Kennedy - but we don't know that he didn't either." |

This doesn't mean that there aren't other underlings in team Clinton waiting to uncover even more dirt and continue with other allegations. This resignation hardly hints at some sort of inner sense of morality and fairness, Let's face it, they both play politics as cruel, dirty and vicious as it has ever been played but the Clintons overall ideology is more tolerable. |

Republicans just came out swinging in 2000 and haven't stopped. Labeling Max Clelland as unpatriotic is simultaneously the most brilliant and despicable thing I've ever witnessed in a campaign. Republicans constantly go over the line and democrats have been too scared to follow. And Republicans are simply better at spin. I'm not saying democrats don't do it - they just dont do it as well. |

I have never voted for a republican president, so let's just get that out of the way. However, the one thing I respect (if that is the right word) about the repubs is that they have come out and done exactly what they wanted to do for the last 8 years. Call it playing dirty or whatever, they haven't let their fake morality get in the way the way the Dems have. The republicans have pulled together when they had to, even when they didn't agree, because they understand this is a cut-throat bi-partisan war. Think of all this shit the republicans have been able to pul for eight years and tell me even if it makes you sick it's not impressive that they knew how to do it. |

I can't wait for someone to come in and undo all the wrong that's occurred. That said - it was the most politically efficient hatchet job I've ever seen. But to be perfectly honest, it wasn't a result of any long term strategy or planning on the part of the repubs. Political party power works in cycles not unlike the economy. every once in a while, ther'es a perfect storm to upset the delicate balance of "I'm tired of the congress, so lets elect a member of the opposite party as president" or "this president sucks, let's elect a new congress who will fight him." it just so happened that for 6 years, republicans had the house, senate, executive and judiciary. that's pretty rare and by no means is a reflection on how the country felt. it was pure luck that it happened that way. And wars scare people from voting folks out of office. And when that happens, usually alot gets done. I gotta tell you - republican or democrat, when things get done as efficiently as they have for those 6 years, it's usually an incredibly BAD sign. It shows that the system hadn't worked when one party has all the power. it took some time to correct itself, but it did in 06 and probably will this year. I'm thinking 06 really hurt the democrats chances for 08. |
