If you HAD to kill someone then that would suggest an unexpected self-defense situation where you you were trying to stop someone from inflicting what you perceived to be an undue amount of deadly force against your person or that of a loved one. In this case, unless you were sure that you could physically incapacitate the individual bare-handed, you'd want to find the biggest, heaviest object you could get your hands on right away and whack the fucker in the head, many times if possible. If not then use it to distract from imminent harm which would buy you a bit more time to find an alternate strategy.

If it were me, I'd just run.
