From this article.
Some on the left will say our electoral losses are a repudiation of our principles of lower taxes, smaller government and individual liberty. But Tuesday was not in fact a rejection of those principles -- it was a rejection of Republicans' failure to live up to those principles. Total strawman argument. I am yet to hear a single person on the left say anything of the sort. I would venture that this election was a repudiation of the GOPs principles of deregulation of corporations, corporate wellfare, and flawed neo-con foreign policy among other things. People are pissed because of the removal of individual liberties (see The Patriot Act, wiretapping, Gitmo, etc). I wonder if the rest of the party's leadership is this out of touch? |

Have you seen the internals on the election results? Obama brought home 4% more of the votes than Kerry did in 2004. Yet total number of votes was nearly the same. Many conservatives stayed home while Obama picked up the majority of new voters. This was not a mandate by anymeans and wasn't a wholesale rejection of republican politics either. Funny how you bring up Patriot Act and Wire taps yet Obama deftly voted for the FISA bill with no immunity. Talk about a straw man argument. |

I hardly follow politics at all but I'm amazed at two things on this board, 1) that people actually thought McCain had a chance to win last Tuesday ignoring the Electoral College predictions (I picked Obama at 350-375, he got 349, and-
2) That people don't realize Obama won because he targeted states he could win in. He lost by 15 percent in a lot of states. I'm a big Obama fan but he got in because of running a great campaign and most of all-George Bush. This election is no guarantee that another George couldn't be on deck for 2012. |

I read Mallard daily and I think the only days where he doesn’t come across as a moron with delusions of grandeur is Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day and the 4th of July. |

Bush had a mandate. Obama does not. Conservatism is still the 'merican way. Republicans will kick ass... get the job done. End of discussion. Bush earned 'political capital' with his 'mandates'. And he was all too eager to spend it... This whole election was just a fluke- the GOP were the only ones smart enough to 'see through' the Mainstream Media's theft... sadly, the majority of America was hornswoggled! Republicans still run the show... Lock the thread. |

Yup. In the last 2 years the democrat congress gave him everything he wanted like lap dogs. Really backfired on those stupid Dems...why couldn't they stick to their principals like the GOP of the previous 6 years? America has kicked the Dems to the curb, bra! This was a huge mandate for the Republicans! The goddam MSM has bamboozled us all... Period. End of thread. Game over. Put her in charge.
