Much to my shock and horror, my wife expressed interest in buying a Honda Metropolitan last summer. We went to go look at one and I took it for a spin. It's actually a great little ride, just get used to the fact that it doesn't have a lot of power. Still, you can hold your own on most city streets. She uses it to commute from Brighton to Kendall Square and it takes about a half an hour with stop and go traffic. Taking the T is over an hour.

Check craigslist for a cheap used one.

Supposedly there's a couple of simple mods you can do to the Metro to get more power out of it. Restrictor plates and such.

same with the Vespas too... you can get a cylinder kit and make it a 70cc... for around $200 or so, i think....

with the restrictor plates... i think there's something about completely removing them that can screw up your shit.. i think they're supposed to be filed down instead...

Gee whiz...I've paid less for entire motorcycles!

Now that I think about it...I had less in to both of my Vespas/

Oh the times, they have changed.

Actually, now that I thin kabout it, how to the new Vespas shift?
Are the clutch & shifter still all on the left grip?
I don't think I've been close enough to any new ones to see.
