Question on parking in Harvard Square Options

Any idea on how much it costs (the garages or pay lot, etc) for about 3-4 hours? I have to be there for something-I've only done that a few times in my LIFE, many years ago (and I lived in Somerville for 7 years), since I'm normally way too cheap, or could walk from Davis. But in this case, I won't have a lot of time to hunt around, I can't feed the meters, and driving and taking the T from Alewife seems like a huge hassle.

If it's not gonna cost me more than $10, that seems worth it.

Ugh. That definitely doesn't make sense-I guess it's Alewife. Or-maybe I'll try Central Square, I think that lot behind the Harvest Coop has long-time meters, if I can get one.

The Green Street garage in Central Square is only a buck an hour...

There's a municipal lot across from charlies kitchen that is 25 cents per half hour with a four hour max. If it's full then just wait there for someone to leave. I always have pretty good luck with that. Also, there's a bunch of spots around the corner from there by the post office on Mt Auburn st. too that's worth checking

If you don't mind walking for about 10-15 mins, park on Beacon St in Somerville for free.

I'll usually say fuck it and park under the Charles Hotel. A little more expensive but better than driving around like a numbnut for forty five minutes to save a lousy ten bucks.

I do that sometimes, but occasionally I see lots of tickets on the cars over there, like they're enforcing the 2-hour limit pretty rigidly.

If you plan to eat in Harvard, see about finding a restaurant that will validate garage parking.

Now it's two bucks for an hour, and four bucks for two hours, max. And it runs from (I think) 6am to 10pm.

You could try parking at a meter for two hours down Mt. Auburn street heading west of Eliot Street as it overlooks the Charles River.

Seriously, those prices are fine-and so is a 15 minute walk from Beacon Street, if I have time (it'll be tight time-wise to get there by 3 pm from where I'll be before that)-I didn't say I wouldn't pay, just not more than $10.

BTW, where is the Graduate School of Design on Quincy Street? I don't know Quincy Street-where do I find it from Harvard Square. Anyone?

Well, thanks for all those ideas-I just mapquested it, and realized it's less than a mile from Dali/Beacon Street, and a little over a mile from Central Square, both of which I probably CAN find cheap, easy parking in, so that's good to know.

Cross the river from JFK Street in Cambridge and try to find a spot along North Harvard. It's free. Best time are 11:30 to 1:00 and after 4pm.

Just a heads up -

They're tearing up the street right in the middle of harvard sq right now, and it can be a nightmare to get through in the daytime. The whole area from the camb common to nini's corner is a trainwreck. Today the cars were backed up to _before_ the underpass on broadway. I turned around, it would have taken 45 minutes to get over the bridge into allston.

But from central to quincy st. shouldn't be a problem at all.

Park in a meter, let the time run out, and the resulting ticket is still less than the garage or the lots.
