Awesome! Thank you so much, Panda!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Request to the bookers: is there an updated schedule of set times and order of bands/performers for the shows, at least as it tentatively stands at the moment? Understood that it will probably be changing right up to the last minute.

And do we know some listing of performers in the pick-up bands?

Thanks!

Harrisongs performed by:
rodrigovanstoli, mercyjames, luca brazzi, Bad Jake Olson, Tom From Out of Town, Anna and perhaps openbar as well.

I was hoping we could go on first in the "Friends" section as we'll have the most stuff probably.

Plan on 11pm and then when you're done other people can come up as they wish do their songs.

I have some bad news...or good news depending on who you are...

We have to back out of the show sad.gif

Eli just got his diagnosis from the Doc...step throat.

So rather than trying to play and getting everyone sick, we felt we should step down. I am really sorry about this...I hate to cancel on a show, especially one like this.

My parents, Maj. (Ret) Arnold (Arnie) Johnson and Rev. Dr. Mary Johnson, will be attending the Sunday Feb 11th show at the Abbey, from around 4pm to 8pm. They are super wonderful people and feel free to say hi to them and let them know how much everyone respected and loved Jon, but please also be careful to not tire them out. It's been a very rough haul lately on our whole family.

Mary was supposed to have cancer surgery on Feb 8th and so they weren't going to be able to attend any of the shows. Her surgery has now been moved two weeks later on, so they are now pleased to make a little bit of the shows.

I am not too sure who organizes all these, but I saw Jon was a fan of the Felice and Boudreaux Bryant/Everly Brothers song Take a Message to Mary....my brother and I have been singing that since we were kids, and we would be happy to do that one for him.

Wow - i picked up the gift basket from Shellsbells over at Dellaria yesterday - it's huge and gorgeous and loaded with awesome stuff! about $150 worth of high end hair and body products- there's gotta be at least 20 bottles and jars of shampoos, styling products, lotion, etc in there!

Thanks so much to her and everyone else that's donated. I'm compiling a master list right now, will post it as soon as i assemble it.

if anyone wants to donate their CDs or Tshirts, please PM me. I'd like to get enough to present people with a bundle of them, instead of individually.

still taking other donations too of course. you guys have been very charitable so far, and for that i thank you very much!

Hotline: Community rocks for a friend
By Michael Marotta
Thursday, February 8, 2007 - Updated: 09:06 AM EST

The late Jon Erik Johnson was a musician, teacher and moderator of the Noise Board, a local online community. But long before his unexpected passing Jan. 17 at age 43, many in the rock community knew him as a friend.

"He was absolutely the kind of old-time gentleman that doesn’t come around much anymore," said longtime friend Jordan Valentine of the World’s Greatest Sinners. "He had such a deep-seated sense of humor, a love of knowledge and family and a passion for music that was very spiritual."

Johnson influenced several lives in the Hub music community, whether it was playing upright bass for Lenny and the Piss Poor Boys, reaching out to other musicians in need or debating on hot-topic Noise Board issues.

Now the community is responding with a series of four benefit shows. Three are at the Baseball Tavern, and the series wraps up at the Abbey Lounge. Proceeds from the four-night, 23-band benefit will pad the Jon Erik Johnson Memorial Fund, which is up to almost $4,000 from Noise Board donations alone.

"What I didn’t realize until we started working on these shows is how many lives he touched in Boston and elsewhere," Valentine said. "So many musicians have shared stories of Jon’s unwavering support, and particularly his way of showing encouragement in a way that stuck with them."

Beyond that, Johnson also "really loved a good party."

So, that’s what’s in store for the next four days.

Thursday, the Dirty Truckers, Nate Gibson, Ellie Vee and Joe Wizda of the Charms, John Carlevale and His Old Time Trio and DJ Andrew of the Allrighters perform at the Basement, downstairs at the Baseball Tavern, 1270 Boylston St.

Friday night, Black Fortress of Opium, the Radio Knives and the Swinedells perform alongside the Rudds’ and Neighborhoods’ Cheap Trick tribute, with Valentine spinning soul and r & b.

On Saturday, Awakening Stick, 1977, Two Saints, the Curses and the Skels round out the Tavern series.

On Sunday, the benefit jumps the river as the Pug Uglies, Lusting Kay, Jeff Morris, Sasquatch and the Sickabillies, Bread and Roses, Classic Ruins, the Allrighters, Brimstone Assembly and the Steamy Bohemians descend on Somerville’s Abbey Lounge (3 Beacon St.) for a blowout bash that kicks off at 4 p.m.

"My hope is that these shows will be the kind of nights that Jon would have been proud of and enjoyed," Valentine said. "They’re meant to be a celebration of a life well-led."

All shows are 21-plus, with covers of $8 to $12. For information on the Jon Erik Johnson Benefit Concert Series, go to www.thenoiseboard.com.

And if anyone has a Boston Herald from Thursday with the above article, could you save one and get it to me some time? I'll be at the Abbey on Sunday, for example. Thanks.

UPDATE
Tonight, between the raffle,RD's DVD sales, and donations, we collected $275!

not sure what the sales were from the past 2 nights, but we've sold almost 600 tickets so far!

thanks to everyone that's contributed so far, and good luck in the drawing tomorrow (tonight?) at the Abbey!

awesome!

all told, we sold 830 raffle tickets, and raffled off over 30 prizes tonight. We also sold 30 copies of the DVD's Rotten Drunk made, and took in $65 in direct, unsolicited donations in the last 2 nights smile.gif

thanks everyone!

OK, so now I know who DJ Kyttyn is, nice to put a face with a screen name! You were clearly doing a terrific job selling the tickets and handling the raffle.

I only made it out for a bit on Sunday night, having no idea the raffle was to be that night. But actually won a $25 gc to the Baseball Tavern from tickets purchased on Friday night. Anyway, forgot to claim it so please give it to someone that can put it to good use, I rarely make it down there anyway.

I didn't know Jon Erik personally but very impressed how all of this was put together and pulled off. There are many good people on this board.
