no, not stripping or waitressing...although the latter isn't ruled out entirely.

Forget waitressing and bartend instead. It is a far easier way to make money in the service industry.

I don't know... she makes quite a bundle... not sure if it was hard getting started.

Silpada Designs is the original and fastest growing .925 Sterling Silver Jewelry Home Show company in the United States! Our handcrafted jewelry is just one reason why Silpada Home Shows consistently average $750 in retail sales — nearly twice the direct selling Home Show industry sales average!

Pay only $100 for your Initial Certification Fee with your purchase of $1,500 retail ($750 your cost) in jewelry, Belts and Watches. Pay $0 for your Initial Certification Fee with your purchase of $3,500 retail ($1,750 your cost) in jewelry, Belts and Watches.

$850 for someone who is looking for part time work is not easy at all. These things are for bored housewives with extra money and lots of friends with extra money. Those companies make most of their money off of people who buy the inital load of crap and don't sell it.

QUOTE(Mark VI @ Oct 17 2008, 01:05 PM) *

an old girlfriend worked part time at barns and noble during law school. she liked it alot, but spent her extra money on........ you guess it..... more books.

I had considered getting a part time job there as well. However, I realized i'd end up spending my entire paycheck on books - I just got rid of about 150 books - It would be too tempting!

But I have a friend who has been a buyer for them for 12 years in Manhattan. She loves it - I mean who wouldn't love to get paid great money to read books all day and review them?

when i worked at a bookstore i solved the aforementioned dilemma by setting aside books i wanted and then revisiting them a week later. 98% of the time i put them back. it also didn't hurt that i was getting paid pennies.
as far as the jewelry selling goes, that's not my kind of thing. i have a friend who does it through that company. she told me it was all sterling silver which i'd more than happy to buy from her but when i looked at the stuff it was not sterling silver and the quality was not good. i also used to make and sell my own jewelry on consignment so i have my own ideas on how stuff should be made, sold, etc. thank you for the suggestion though

Buddy of mine used to make great bank working nights loading trucks at UPS. I believe their packages can be up to 75 pounds, though. Dunno how strong you are.

I bartend for a service - they send me out to parties and stuff. You get an hourly and tips and can turn down anything you don't want or don't have time for. I also work part time in Retail making roughly the same hourly as the bartending, no tips, but time and 1/2 on Sunday. Right now the malls are looking for holiday help. I love the store I work for, but only because the people I work with are a lot of fun. I hear it can go horribly wrong.

My Friend Jackie actually started a part time cleaning business before she got pregnant. She went and interviewed people and those that didn't turn out to be freaks she started doing cleaning/house sitting/pet sitting for them in the evenings and on the weekends.

Now, she still has two people that she cleans for every other weekend - its an extra $200-300 in her pocket every two weeks for like 6-8 hours of work.

She advertised on Craigslist.

The more specialized the work, the more it pays generally. So, what special knowledge, talent, skill or passion do you have? And who would want to use it to their advantage? They would pay you to leverage your knowledge, talent, skill or passion to their advantage.

And then there's always waitressing. If you go that route, go as upscale as you can. Bigger tips.

Don't they ask for A BFA for that? Last time I saw that job opened they did.
