Homos or complete douchebags. I guess being both is possible. But I've never met a male Neil Diamond fan who wasn't at least one or the other. And I'm not talking about dudes who like a song or two (even ironically) or find him funny in some cutesy little ironic way... this is all just fine and dandy. I'm talking about fellas who buy in to the whole "Jewish Elvis" thing hook, line, and sinker... as in they go to see him in concert, own more than one album, and maybe get all excited when they hear a Diamond song at a wedding or sporting event. Yup. Total douche, homo, or both. This is axiomatic with male Neil Diamond fans. |

You like *female* Neil Diamond fans? I'd rather they were into Tom Jones...

The man actually wrote some good pop songs... but there is something about his voice and the instrumentation he chooses that make me want to kill his children and make him watch. I'd much rather hear the Monkees or other people do the songs he ghost wrote then actually listen to him do anything.

I went to see him at the Fleet Center with my wife. We had seats about 10 rows from the stage. I wouldn't call myself a fan - but any guy who can play for 2 hours straight at his age is alright in my book. I agree with the douchebaggness of his fans though - anyone under 50 there was just unbearable. I almost got thrown out of the show for telling the yuppie scum bags sitting next to us to swap seats with the people in front of us after they spilled beer all over their seats or go get something to clean them off. Guy went and got a security guard...luckily the rest of the row agreed with me.

I'll admit he's a great entertainer, gives his fans their moneys worth, and made some pretty good records in the past.. I was never a real big fan of Kneel Diamond

In the "smooth voiced, sensitive Jewish man writing songs about oh-so-adult situations" stakes Paul Simon is the best there is and Billy Joel is a despicable hack. Diamond falls somewhere between the two.

I've got about 3 records in my collection.
He's okay in my book. A bit overrated, for sure. He's certainly no Elvis, nor even close to a Tom Jones. |

Count me as a douchebag. I have several records and a couple of cd box sets. I've also seen him about 10 times and I'm going to see him at Fenway.

like many artists of his stature / tenure, some great stuff, some dreck.
i know plenty of fans of all ages who are perfectly swell people. i'd see him if i could afford to & would probably dig it. |

I actually thought about it, but so much dreck...and Fenway packed with Neil Diamond fans would just be such so surreal-and not "good surreal"! |

can't compare him with elvis or jones. Neil writes his own songs and has written many hits for others. Tin pan kind of cred. 70% of his stuff is weak, the rest is strong to truly great. The rick rubin album has a couple of amazing moments. I respect the man.
I'll take a guess that the troll who started this thread also feels people like ringo and Sinatra are worthless too. Art is a funny thing. Calling art fans douchebags is comical. |

Calling Neil Diamond's musical fartings "art" is as comical as it gets. Douche. What music do you consider to be art flippy? Please share your wisdom. Apparently you are a superior judge. I don't want to be a douche! Save me! What is it that the 18 year olds dig these days? |
