So I suppose I've nothing against them doing it. However the health benefits accrued are a bit dubious. Lets put it this way, you wouldn't catch me jumping off a fifteen metre platform on a regular basis, just to keep myself fit and healthy. My take on this isn't cruelty, it's tradition. A weird one admittedly, but then again, there are worse things that happen in this world. |

that was kinda my point, it ain't voluntary on the kids' part I know what you're saying, and i sort of agree with you. However not a lot of things are voluntary on the childrens part. But this is India, and is well intended. Children are gettng married at 13 years of age here. Sometimes against their will. A funny story about something I was dead against when I was a kid. The Queens jubilee 1977, my Mother forced me to get dressed up as Noddy, and go through my village on a horse and cart. Needless to say I spent the whole day bawling my eyes out. |

At the same time, here in the States and in Europe/Israel, we hack off a chunk of a kid's wang right after they're born, and this happens on a pretty regular basis with no one really batting an eye. I'm not really against against circumcision, but a spade's a spade.
