Anyone have a simple decorated sugar cookie recipe? I'm baking next weekend and I looked online but there are millions of 'em.
I need a tried and true recipe for decorated sugar cookies. I'm baking them for work. Help! |

The pillsbury refrigerator kind are tasty. Buy some nice nuts (pecans, filberts, hazelnuts) and chop coarsely. Mix plenty o' nuts in with the dough. Bake. Easy.

Thanks you guys! I want to sprinkle colored sugar on them. Do I do it before I bake 'em or after?

My mother has made Sand Tarts during the holidays for as long as I can remember; her mother made them before that. Now I make some every year as well.
Ingredients: * 1 cup butter * 1/2 cup sugar * 2 cups all-purpose flour * 1/4 teaspoon baking powder * 1/2 teaspoon vanilla Preparation: Soften butter, cream with the sugar. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Chill for at least 4 hours in the fridge. Roll dough out on floured surface to 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch thickness, depending on how chewy you like them. Cut with cookie cutters and top with colored sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon sugar, nuts, egg wash, etc. Bake on lightly greased baking sheet at 400° for about 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack or paper towels. |
