wmbr.org entire show streams for 2 weeks as soon as it airs, check site schedule also a heads-up for the annual Cheese Patrol show, this saturday, 12-27 starting at noon, they usually run over 12 hours, great fun, great cringeworthy "lost 45's" type shit but much more... as sonically awful as it can be, it's all but impossible to turn off.. check it out! |

My brother The Mighty Slim will be DJing this show. Get him some off the wall requests- I'm sure he'll have some of his favorites to spin. FCC, you are on notice.

Frank Zappa acolytes = musical equivalent of Dungeons and Dragons fans, and are often the same type of people who awkwardly spout entire reams of Monty Python dialogue...
At least that's been what i've experienced personally... i'd probably be more receptive to checking out Frank Zappa if i hadn't met rabid fans who just creeped me the fuck out. Again, as i've stated before, i appreciate the man's intelligence, just can't stomach the music (mostly because of the way various people have tried to turn me on to it- see above opinions...) Just sayin'. |

Just sayin'. I'm a bit of a Zappa nerd, although I'm nowhere near as bad as I used to be. I originally got into it as a kid because of the dirty words. What kid doesn't like to hear someone sing songs like "Broken Hearts Are For Assholes"? It wasn't until I got into college that I listened to it with "musician ears". It really clicked for me, and I totally got into it then, especially because of Terry Bozzio's drumming. In any case, I can understand the turn-off. In recent years, I've been much more interested in his instrumental stuff than with all the silly toilet humor stuff. Thankfully, there are a whole lot of instrumentals sprinkled throughout his vast catalog. |

I didn't catch the Zappa thing.
I think I've heard enough Zappa to safely say I'm all set for a while. The cheese patrol thing, however, was a real labor of love. And "Somerville Speakout" is the shit. This post has been edited by newfakename: Dec 29 2008, 02:16 AM |
