my grandmother had lung cancer in her 60s and they managed to get it out... she lived another 20 or so years before she was diagnosed with liver cancer, which spread really fast - she died within a few months of that diagnosis.

yeah, he's a dildo... but dad died a month ago TODAY. I'm sure in the future i will be able to laugh about it, but right now it's too soon... right now, i can still see him taking his last breath, as clear as day. I can still see the "coffee grounds" mess of stomach acid and dried blood that came out of his mouth the minute he passed. I can still see him staring, vacant yet terrified, into space as we tried to lift him from his chair to his hosptial bed on the last night he was conscious.

I'm so sorry Heather, but believe me as one who has been through this way too many times this too shall pass. You will remember this horrid period less and less as you make a conscious effort to remember only the good. Certain things/smells can trigger those awful memories, but really I push it completely out of my mind. My loved ones I know would not want me to be dwelling on the last days of their death, but to celebrate the life.

Dj, I'm truly sorry. I didn't mean to be such a dick. I did lose my mom to cancer and i guess i deal with it through humor. (plus the fact that my family kept me in the dark about it so that i could finish college. i am still dealing with that shitstorm) yes, it's terrible to some, but in my family, that's just the way it is. a defense mechanism if you will.

i know i am a prize douche. (signature option anyone?)

but i really meant it as a seinfeld thing. and it backfired huge. i was too much of a stubborn douche to admit it. granted i could have gone down a different path with a different seinfeld reference, but that's what came out of my tiny head.

i'll be more thoughtful in the future. i do appreciate you coming down hard on me for it. i deserved it.

it's probably just what i needed to realize that i need be more sensitive and think before i post (which i do not excel at. duh). especially when it comes to losing family.

but seriously, i'm really sorry.

ok. dropped.

Yeah, what she said. Over time, the bad memories of the end of his life will fade, and you will
remember him as the healthy, vibrant man that he was for 98% of his life. It will be hard
for a while, that's for sure.

Hang in there.

wow. thanks, riff. that was very human of you. I really appreciate it.

and i'm sorry i said you ate your mom under a bridge. that was pretty lousy, and i apologize too. sometimes, people say nasty things when they're upset. I shouldn't have said that. I'm very sorry you lost your mom. It sounds like she was quite young, and passed before her time. That's a terrible thing to have to go through. sad.gif

now, lets all have some xmas cookies and talk about how Dr. Watson has 16x the amount of african DNA than the average caucasian, or something.

it was kind of funny at the end of the episode:

Jerry returns to the comedy club kitchen to a chorus of boos. he's soaked with sweat. Kramer and Bania are there.

Bania: Ouch.
Kramer: You didn't do so bad.
Jerry: What are you talking about? I bombed!
Kramer: No, you had some good stuff. The cancer bit? It was edgy, it was not my sort of thing but some of those people out there, they really liked it.
Jerry: Like who?
Kramer: Like that guy who yelled out.
Jerry: He had cancer!
Kramer: And laughter is the best medicine.

while i'm absolutely thrilled that someone i find hysterical thinks i made a good joke, I really AM sorry i said that. blushing.gif

i guess everyone has their moments.

i guess it sorta comes of like "I'm sorry i blew up your mom, ricky."

No cancer is funny. Except ball cancer. And that's providing you do not have ball cancer. Because then it wouldn't be funny.

So pretty much 9 times out of 10, cancer is not funny. Unless it's ball cancer. And you don't actually have it.
