How was the food at Cantone's? I noticed it said "Italian Cusine". it was a very small italian restaurant, with one small room divided by a wall from the other small room which had a small area for bands and freaks to umm play, much like the Abbey was some years back, only much smaller, and Mickey Bliss (later from the Kirkland) was the door man and Marlo (the drummer for the Ann Primm Group, which was great, was a bartender (ann primm later was in the november group) outside of the obvious bands that are still known today, i remember my favorites being The Arhbishop's Enema Fetish Blind Orphans Smegma and the Nuns but i was really blown away by the teenagers who were called The Outlets Frank Rowe had a line about Wild Johnny, who lived upstairs and lived with Real Kids and Baby's Arm (later Classic Ruins) members, in his Geraldine song WJ being a notorius drummer in the notorious Tracks band, featuring Lorrie Doll (r.i.p.) and her husband Jeff This post has been edited by terrydactyl: Aug 8 2008, 08:24 AM |

Flip's right. That whole scene was actually kind of exasperating. Ingrown and petty.
Like: "When is Vitaman going to actually learn how to play their fucking instruments?" "Everybody hates Wild States just because they're smart." "The guitar player from the Flies is a real phonus balonus." But thanks for posting. This post has been edited by dimenno: Aug 8 2008, 01:11 PM |

Shit yeah.
Saw MoB at the Rat Rumble in '79 and I was already out of college.... Got kicked out of Cantones for drunkenly assaulting patrons with a toilet plunger...it may even have been the same night the Babylon Dance band played there. I was on the scene for nearly 4 years before I began writing about it. |

they'd be better off doing a book than a video, imho... then they could take / transcribe calls or accept audio recordings from those who don't deal w/cams or dislike being photographed, etc...

Sad to say, probably not much, except a certain kind of collector. I'd say if you had a fairly complete run of any given time period, you could probably get a nibble for someone who'd like to have them. i'd bet otherwise --- MARSMAN could probably give you a ballpark |

Yeah, ask MARSMAN. He knows a lot more about that sort of collectible than I do.

Yeah, ask MARSMAN. He knows a lot more about that sort of collectible than I do. I think you're right. Not much. If you can find a buyer, somewhere in the realm of a $5 a pop seems right, with the 1st 15 issues bringing closer to $10-20. Maybe a premium for #1. But there doesn't seem to be much demand. I think early Noises might be better. Lower distribution, more disposable, more "punk-DIY" cred. Now Johnny D's Liberty Guardians, those are hard to find and really high demand. |
