So, this morning as I went outside to start the car I decided to say fuck it and head to the mountain and get some runs in on ye olde snowboard. It was glorious out there, fresh groomerz and I got to demo a bunch of new gear for next season. Sun blaring, and flying down the hill was sweet.
Anyways, I get to work just a little after noon and I sneak in the back and sit at my desk all ninja like. A coworker comes up a few minutes later to ask something, stops mid sentence and goes, "Jon why is your face all red?" I didn't notice on my drive in, but I totally have the ski goggle raccon sunburn going on and it isn't fooling anyone where I was all morning. BUSTED. |

I pulled that last summer but I went to the beach. When everyone started in on me, I told them I suffered from a vitamin D deficiency, and I needed to sit in the sun since I can't drink milk.

Nice. Goggle tan season is here! bra the Wa Wa was pretty sweet this morning. Corduroy as far as the eye can see... This is a dumb time to bring this up but next season remind me to get you invited to Ride 'Em and Rank 'Em. it's an invite only demo day the shop does and all the vendors bring out next year's shit to try out. Rossi, Atomic, Nordica, Fischer, Rossi, Volkl, etc. have every ski for you to try before they hit the stores for next season. it's a rad time. |

I don't think I'm gonna anything. Maybe some Dynastar 8000 Legends?
I have RX8s (got a free pair from Fischer this year, actually...long story) and also Watea 78s for crud/spring/pow days. The RX8s are just so awesome on groomers they make the Wateas feel really dull and high effort on similar terrain. The RX8s just have no float and get tossed around a lot if there's crud or cut up snow, esp at speed. However, the Wateas were great in the trees @ Killington a few weeks ago in those glades off snowdon. |

Might hit Sunapee to make up for my crappy Waterville trip.

Wifey just picked up a pair of K2 "Burnin Luv" ladies skis. They got great ratings everywhere I looked. Might hit up Sunday River this weekend.

Rest assured bra - she picked up a great pair of skis. Cool. I had to talk her out of the Lotta Luv, which are the expert model. She's not an expert, and doesn't really like steeps, so they would have been unmanageable for her. I'm really loving the Burton Elite 162 I picked up at the end of last season too... The triad bindings are fucking AWESOME. |

I'm really loving the Burton Elite 162 I picked up at the end of last season too... The triad bindings are fucking AWESOME. Burnin' Luvs are a pretty advanced set too - great for carving and cruising. She'll be fine on intermediate trails and the good news is that as she gets better on skis, the skis will still stay within her abilities. No reason she'll ever outgrow those skis from a performance standpoint. The Lotta Luvs are very similar, just a wider ski (especially under foot, hence "Lotta") more suited for powder conditions. Not necessarily more advanced than the Burnin Luvs, just meant for a different skier. I'm on the Custom 162 from two years ago and still love it. Very stable at high speeds, although since I got banged up two years ago I tend to dial it back a little. Badly separated shoulder can do that to ya... Today I took out a 161 Ride Concept TMS that was really great as well as a 158 Burton Custom X with the CO2 bindings on it. Very fluid setup on both. Third deck I tried was some Rossi piece of shit. 1 run and I took it back. Also took out a new one from Ride called the Slackcountry 164 and it was a blast in the crud. Definitely rode shorter than a 164. Also saw a cool park board from Ride (Crush?) that had graphics that disappear when the board gets warm. All the drawings on it were done by school kids in a struggling district outside Seattle and proceeds from the sales of the board go to fund their art department. Shit like that rules. |
