Really awesome show. Really funny stuff and really great writing about growing up and the dynamics within a family. I loved how at a time when shows like The Cosby Show and Growing Pains and Family Ties were all painting this almost Leave It To Beaveresque Reagan 80's type picture Wonder Years dealt with pretty real shit. Granted it was set in 60's and everything but it was still an awesome show. The series finale choked me up a little bit. I hear that there is all sorts of issues with music royalties that are keeping it from coming out on DVD. Too bad.

"Saved By the Bell" bravely dealt with Jessie Spano's addiction to caffeine pills.

I guess now one can love Winnie without feeling slightly creepy. Anyway, the Wonder Years suffered from a syndrome that many shows that represent a particular time period suffer from. That syndrome is that after about 2 seasons, they esssentially slack on representing the said time period (i.e Happy Days).

I like the show but I think it's an overly idealized look at adolescence. Even the tragedies were ideal for growing up to become a well rounded adult. Plus it suffers from the baby boomer outlook that the 60's were the greatest time ever and everybody else missed out.

I'm not a boomer and I feel I missed out.
